Where do you buy your books?
I order and shop at Books-a-Million, then always up for Barnes & Nobel, I grab books from Target and online at Amazon

If I am looking for the physical copy: barnes and noble, Amazon, and thrifty books (they come in really good conditions for half the price, you should definitely check the website out!) If it is for my kindle: it’s either Amazon or I borrow the ebook from my local library with my library card! They have their whole in person collection available for kindle or online!
If you have a kindle , do you need to then buy books on it to read it or do they just come with the kindle
Well for me, it’s a yes and no. Kindle e readers are connected to your Amazon account, so if you want to buy the ebooks from Amazon, then it will be automatically transferred to your kindle. Now, if I don’t want to spend money, I have this app called liby (used to be named overdrive) and I can use my library card number and have access to their ebook collection. This app is also connected through Amazon, so your practically borrowing from Amazon and your local library at the same time. I hope this makes sense.
target! i scan the book with my target app for a better deal, then i just price match at the register.
For online shopping thrift books is AWSOME! You can get used or new books and they are so cheap. Also half price books, Amazon, thrift stores are definitely a hit or miss but you can find some great stuff if you are willing to spend the time.
I go to second-hand book stores cause I like to hold the book and see what it's like before I buy it plus its really cheap and sometimes special editions can be found

I get all of my books at a local Goodwill for only 25 cents!! It’s literally crazy but sometimes I get so lucky! I got the song of Achilles, seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo, the whole red Queen series, and the cruel prince series as well!
I prefer Barnes & Noble for shopping. I can browse all day and stop at Starbucks for a snack/coffee. Books-A-Million is good for books that might be on sale and trinkets. I only preorder online. I like to check out my book in person to make sure I get a completely damage-free copy.

Barnes&Nobel online has a good selection of signature books and sales on newer books. Half priced books for books that have been out and awesome finds. Book of the Month (BOTM) book club is amazing since you can sign up for 1 book and add up to 2 to 4 additional and they are hardcovers. I have a subscription to Once Upon a Book Club because you get a book (often hard cover), sometimes with author note/signature, and they'll do pretty books, plus you get to open presents at specific times during the story that relate to the story. I also signed up for Owlcrate since I fell in love with their first edition signed specialty books and you can order their packages with book goodies that, although they don't relate to that specific book, are book related. I also found that places like Mercari are good for getting used books! Although you do need to do research when buying from others as some prices are way out of line for basic versions. Kindle Unlimited is the way to go if you're an active reader of eBooks and don't need to read the best sellers. I've found many authors I LOVE through Kindle that I then purchased physical books from because I loved their work so much!

I live in the UK, so a mix of Waterstones, the Works, Amazon, Asda/Morrisons/Tescos, Discount Bookshops, and sometimes Libraries/Charity Shops :)

Also I would recommend checking out Ollie’s. They sell new books for SUPER cheap like I got a hardcover there for $2.99. Although they might not have some of the more popular books.
I try to spend the bulk of my money at local stores, so that's mostly my hardcovers. My eBooks are 90% through Kindle Unlimited and 10% purchased through Amazon kindle. I buy maybe one or two physical books via Amazon per year, and that's usually when I want a very specific edition I can't find locally or I only want to pay a couple bucks for a book I plan on loaning out/ annotating.
