Adding a better image of the same cover is allowed. When you add the new image, if you add in the change comment that is a better image of the same cover, that is very helpful for future edits on the book.

Hi there,I often request for a cover image of a book to be posted on Goodreads, and every time I do this, I'm refered to this thread.
But I still can't find where I'm supposed to add the file of the cover image here??
(I realise I'm a dunce at technology).
Thanks,
Meldi
PS I work for a small publisher
Hi Meldi,You need to be a goodreads librarian to change covers. Assuming you're already a librarian:
1) go to the book in question (make sure the ISBN matches exactly) and click "edit details," which is just above and right of "get a copy | amazon | online stores | libraries"
2) on the right you'll see the existing cover image, and below that you'll see the option to delete the existing photo or add additional ones
Just make sure you follow the guidelines on what acceptable images are. I assume you're interested in modifying books from your publishing house, so you won't have to worry about that.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Zach

I noticed that the cover art for David Griffiths's "Intro to QM" is pretty low res, and a much crisper image is available on Amazon. As we are now allowed to use Amazon's images on Goodreads, I thought I'd swap pictures use the better image. However, the librarian manual states "Replacing or removing the cover of an existing edition is in violation of Goodreads policy."
Surely in this case, as I'm merely replacing the cover with a better version of the same image, the rule doesn't apply? This probably seems ridiculous, but it's a real eye sore to me.
