I don't know if it's true or not, but tbh I think they'd be cute together.
the media typically only portray one side of matty and i’ve seen a lot of negativity towards him from swifties, specifically about him having been in rehab, which i think is disgusting. sure he isn’t perfect but neither is taylor, and she’s an adult so whether they’re together or not if she’s happy who cares!!
@holly i totally agree. if taylor likes him and is happy then i really don’t care. and i don’t know much about him but saying something about his rehab is so wrong.
just based on their songs, both Taylor and Matty are INCREDIBLE lyricists. they seem to both love literature, which I can relate to. someone else mentioned Matty getting lots of negative press, and I feel like Taylor knows more than anyone what it’s like to have negative narratives about them in the public eye, whether or not they’re true. i’m happy for Taylor regardless of what’s true, but I feel like they would be a power couple tbh at least when it comes to how smart they are.
i feel like people need to look into him because he is a HORRIBLE person and it's sad to see taylor with him, even if she is happy, because he is the epitome of everything she opposes in the media

@tilly he's racist, islamophobic, fatphobic, misogynistic, antisemitic, mocked ethnic accents, made fun of and was racist towards ice spice, transphobic, used multiple slurs, said being muslim was the same as being in isis, made fun of blm, stood on the south korean flag, and worse. on top of all of this he said dating taylor swift would be "emasculating"

see guys what I feel is it's really upto taylor whom she wants to date, we don't know her personally, and she is an adult she has her parents with her and her closest friends who think the best for her & am sure they will tell her what's good for her. so we shouldn't be obsessed with her dating life let her live!! and let her date whoever she wants to.

Thank you Ameerah, seriously As a Muslim it really hurts that she would assotiate herself with him. But at the end of the day she is a white woman who never really had to go through what we have to go through. And yes she has stood up for us at times but maybe it really is all for show. We never know whats really going on in her head and how she really feels but obviously if she is dating him then she doesnt care about what hes done. And someone said that maybe he changed but still. He still has done that stuff in the past and idk
i hope she's happy, but i don't like him at all and was disappointed when i heard the rumors that she would associate herself with someone like him. he has a very problematic history and he grosses me out.and on top of everything (his racist, transphobic, misogynistic background), he said that dating her would be "emasculating". idk about you, but if a man said dating me would be emasculating, i would completely cut him off. like it's funny you thought you even had a shot :)

At the end of the day- this isn't just isolated behavior. Older swifties will remember in her reputation era when white supremisists and n*zis were worshipping her, and her team threatened to sue a journalist for pointing it out. She's been eerily quiet on so many anti-trans and poc bills, which would've been somewhat understandable if she didn't use her platform for activism so many times before. I mean, even Matty (an infamous racist, transphobe, and chauvinist) called out anti-semitism and protested anti-LGBTQ laws in a massive way. ( He kissed a male audience member during a concert in DUBAI)
Like Ameerah said, Lover was a centrist moment. She's never really participated in feminist dialogue when it doesn't affect her.
I will forever love her music, but I think fandom culture (myself included) puts on rose-colored glasses and tends to ignore the less favorable facts. I’m really hoping it’s a whole thing for a collab, she’s only seen in public when she wants to be. I definitely did not mean that to come off as I was defending Matty😭 My bad. I just meant that if a proud racist, chauvinist and transphobe was protesting discriminatory laws, it says a lot about Taylor as a person for staying quiet.

I just think people should leave her alone. From what I've heard many people dislike Matty for some rumours about him, we shouldn't judge him for the things that he did especially if we know nothing about him, and we souldn't judge her for the things she chooses to do, she's a grown woman and she surely can recognize a bad person when she sees one (we don't even know if they're dating lol). We all loved Joe as her partner, but as long as they're happy I'm happy. Many treated Joe like trash and put all the blame an him when we don't even know what happened! She is a human too and she's working SO SO SO hard right now, and I think that we should all appreciate that. She's sharing many things with us and if her love life's not one of them there's a reason. She'll talk about it when she'll be reay, and that's ok. And if she'll never say nothing about it that's ok too. Let's just appreciate the amazing woman she is and how much she works hard and cares for us :)

From a career point of view, not only is she losing fans by showing her true colors but the whole 'mature, stable, private,' persona she painted during the Folklore-Midnights era is falling apart as well. After denouncing those neo-Nazi's, she's actually WITH a guy who has done Nazi salutes as well as regressing to juvenile antics with him.
The saddest thing is that she's completely aware of all of this, there's no doubt that she hasn't looked his history up although they were friends for many years at this point. Plus didn't she change the Anti-Hero music video when people started complaining about the word fat? She definitely knows about this backlash from fans then. And as she said, you are what you love. She was at all new heights with Midnights and the current tour, I don't know why she wants to tarnish her image right now. Hasn't she always complained about the media focusing on her love life? And here she is walking around with this human piece of trash. Anyone listening to the inevitable love songs on TS11 knowing it's about THIS guy of all people is going to be skeptical. She's usually very image-conscious but it's like she thinks she's untouchable at this point which she certainly is not. She's slowly edging to overexposure with Speak Now and the Better than Revenge lyric coming out and even if she's more prepared this time she doesn't seem know what she's doing especially with Tree Paine as her publicist who really did not handle 2016 very well. This will undoubtedly backfire on her. From what I've seen and read of him, Matt Healy is John Mayer 2.0 and will probably come after her after she's done.

I feel betrayed by Taylor and frustrated with myself for developing such a parasocial relationship with someone who is practically a billionaire. There is no excuse for her to be associating with him and for him to be ON STAGE during her shows. I just keep cycling through the stages of grief because I think this might be the end of my support for her :/

@mary I feel the same :/ it’s really disappointing to find out that someone who you thought was using their privilege for good disregards the actions of the people around them. I haven’t preordered any Speak Now TV stuff and honestly, I don’t think I’m going to. I love Taylor’s music, but turning a blind eye to such a horrible person’s actions is inexcusable.
as a poc and a fan of taylor’s this really threw me for a loop and i’ve seen ppl on twitter saying dating him doesn’t equate to her views as a person but when it’s so many terrible things that literally hurts entire groups of ppl it’s so surreal to see how open and ok she is with dating him and being seen with him
