(Subdue) The Three Hostages by John Buchan – 3 Stars

This is the fourth story featuring Richard Hannay and whilst an enjoyable read, it is definitely not as good as the first book. In this book, Hannay begins investigating when approached by three different people tell him of three different children having been kidnapped and held hostage by a secret kidnapper. Whilst an interesting story, it just wasn’t as fast-paced as the previous books, although the final chapters did see an increase in action and tension. I liked the descriptions of both the settings and the characters, as well as how Hannay’s wife had such a large role in this book.
