I understand and I'm sorry you didn't like it, that's a big let down when you're invested in a series thats spanned over a decade.
I agree on that respect, I generally do not read sad books, Tear jerkers are NOT my thing (or non-fiction tbh).

UM..that tradition no longer applies, Phury is mated to the Chosen Cormia in Lover Enshrined?, she is Phury's shellen. I don't remember the specifics at the moment but him and V worked that out with the Virgin Scribe, she set the chosen free. (This might have occurred in Lover Unleashed, when Payne is finally able to leave the Sanctuary?) There is no more "breeding" going on. He is the Primale, but only looks after them. The Shadows incorporates the Chosen, because Trez's mate Selena is one... With the exception of Layla, no other Chosen was really mentioned in this book other than one or two singular scenes. No one else is "trying to impregnate" them, Layla was an isolated incident due to her time of needing which Qhuinn felt extremely uncomfortable and guilty about.
Furthermore, not to overstate the point, but everyone has had their book, incorporating the shellens more often in this would have been rather banal, and taken away from Trez, Selena and iAm
Bethany, I agree with you that Xcor is redeemable. He's changed so much since we first met him. It's possible. Shosho, I sobbed like a baby there at the end. I can't believe she did that either.
OMG I want to lie in a corner and cry having just finished this. I am literally heartbroken. This isn't how it was supposed to end! I've tried to explain this to three friends so far and none have understood the gravity of my emotion - I'm hoping someone hear can relate and I'm not crazy!

I would have been okay if iAm and his princess ( I can't even remember her name) were the main characters in the book and their story had started from the beginning of the book and it wasn't just insta lust with about 50 pages or less ! And if T&S had only a few chapters .I feel this bad because S was the Heroine of the book , the main character and what Ward does in a ROMANCE book ? She kills off the HEROINE !!!!
I've been thinking what would I have done if I knew that Selena would not survive this book before starting it ! Most likely I would not have read AT ALL! I thought of returning my audiobook after finishing , I was that angry but decided not to ,although I know I'd never re-listen to it again!

I was even hoping that Trez died from the cleansing thinking - okay maybe they can be together in the fade and be happy forever and Trez can feel free because he is no longer required to be the anointed one.

I could have done with the snarkiness though as my breeding comment was a joke.
My point is that there has been about 2 chosen featured heavily in the last several books. Whereas Shellans & the Scribe Nonvirgin are off on vacay. They may mention a shellan was doing blah blah blah, but the chosen are actually a part of the main story!
I don't think any female has had a storyline extend as long as Layla has. Bella's story and Xhex spanned 2 books, but Layla's Her story has spanned 3 books solid and she is still pregnant and in love with Xcor! So there will be more of her story to come. And thus she isn't an "isolated" incident. She is an integral part of this series. In fact, she may be a bridge between the Brothers and the BoB in the future.
I refer to her as a Chosen because that is what the author and the males in the book called them. I supposed since everyone is mated, it only makes sense they are where we will meet Single Ladies.
I don't have a problem with the Chosen but I would really liked Bella and some of the other Shellan would like to see them incorporated more kind of like I saw Mary in this book.
Xcor and Layla!I am curious to see how Ward is going to deal with Layla sneaking off, lying to Q & B about where she is going. I feel like Layla not disclosing to Q&B that their compound location is compromised is taking a huge risk with EVERYONE's safety. Yes, Xcor hasn't pressed the advantage but the fact remains he could have, and still could. He may never chose to attack but what if one of Xcor's warrior's follow them and find out. Then what?
Personally, I couldn't forgive her actions because She leaves not only the warriors vulnerable, but the females, young and staff. I hope Xcor is who she thinks he is!

I wish Xcor and Layla's book was next. The other problem lately is that if you think back to previous books the whole thing was dedicated to one couple... Now it seems the couples stories are a backdrop and the rest takes up more of the book than their story. When I think back to Rhage and Mary, apart from a few parts on the lessers, the entire book was dedicated to them and I miss that now. Trez and Selena were a small part of the entire book, iAms story was even less!

I don't know, but I hope so... That seems a big story to explore and should warrant their own book. Throe could probably be done alongside xcor and Layla's as they are so interlocking? I think it might involve Paradise...?

I just don't see Throe being able to bow down to Wrath and rid himself of his prejudices against his half breed queen and their child. I don't know.
Perhaps he becomes the new fore lesser ;)

I like having this secret trouble brewing because he is an enemy that Wrath may not see coming as he has an idea of where the mansion is now too!
I agree, but how I feel when I read any future books will forever be completely altered after the way things were done with Trez and Selena :(

If I am completely honest, I can't believe "No-one/Autumn" got a 2nd chance; Jane got a second chance, Mary got a second chance, but Wellsie and now Selena too.
When is Scribe Non-virgin gonna finish pouting? When she will get back involved in her race/kids lives? She needs to get over it before I send the Omega to kick her butt.

There is no doubt in Ward's writing ability , otherwise I wouldn't have read so many books by her . My problem is I was expecting a HEA for Trez and Selena , royalty from Xcore(bonded male ????) and an epic love story for iAm , I din't get any of them . The book left me SAD and I mean SAD . How can I trust Ward again ?
