This is the second book in the Newford series. A seemingly ordinary town where odd and magical things happen and fairy tales come true. But not all magic is good and not all fairy tales have a happy ever after.

Artist Isabelle Copley has a rare talent - the people or beings she paints actually come to life. Or more specifically her paintings become portals that spirits from another realm can use to enter our world.

Isabelle's mentor has taken her on as a student to help her develop this skill - and then later to steal the results for himself.

Lots of twists and turns in this book. It's a bit dark and very violent, but really well-written.
