👋👋 i can create scenes in my head forever, but as soon as i try to write them it’s like i’ve never written a word in my life
Bones (Ganon’s Version) wrote: thats been happening to me for like 6 months! i hype myself up when im imagining what im going to write but then when i actually sit down i just."Saaammmee. The struggle is real 😭😭
🙋🙋🙋✋✋✋🙌🙌🙌I decided to do that thing where you just write, like don’t come up with a plan or anything (at least at first you don’t) and you just write, and I was doing really good, I wrote two whole 3-4 page chapters in a small font. But then I got stuck in chapter three.
Oops, I meant 4-5 pages not 3-4 pages. *continues raising hand vigorously while tsking at myself in disappointment*
✋✋✋✋✋✋me bc i just found out the idea i had for a novel was already written by someone and published THIS YEAR.
i know it’s awful now i have to brainstorm about something entirely new😭 it’s upsetting because it was based on a niche historical interest i had

What's the book/idea?
I just want to put it out there that EVERYTHING has been done before. There’s no truly new ideas, just new perspectives. All of our novels we are writing are using ideas/or a trope/or a setting that someone else already thought of. What matters is that we make it OURS and take on a new angle to someone’s previous favorite story!! Personally, I’m writing a fantasy novel currently that takes place in the woods at a summer camp. Has that been done before? Probably a hundred times, but I know my approach and writing style to the story is unique to just my novel!! Hope this helps 😊
yes thank you i appreciate it!i think it’s just the fact that the novel was published THIS YEAR that is a little annoying, but by the time i publish mine it will be a few years in the future so i won’t worry too much
You’re book sounds so interesting, even if someone’s used that idea before!! The world needs YOUR version!! 😁😁
If anyone wants advice, I can share what helped me. :DHonestly, when it comes to defeating writer's block, consistency is key. Set time aside for yourself every day (usually half an hour to an hour works for me) and just make yourself write during that time. It can be really difficult at first, especially if you feel unmotivated or uninspired, but if you keep at it, you'll be able to write even without being especially inspired. Plus, the sense of constant progress from working every day helps a lot with motivations. :)
