SOLVED: Adult Fiction > SOLVED. Romance, kind of historical, think it might even have been called The Flower Garden but really can't remember [s]

Michelle (Michelle_G) | 10 comments This story had a woman who was married to a man she did not love just so that she could please her family, her father especially. She is told by the doctor she has a rare form of anaemia and a year to live. Meets new guy, fall in love almost immediately and they move away or go travelling. Along the way she falls pregnant and the worsens her condition, at the end she dies and guy names baby after a river they once came upon and she thought it was beautiful.

What era is it set in, and what country/region?

Michelle (Michelle_G) | 10 comments its kind of historical (because i remember wearing short dresses was still an issue) but its set in the modern world, i would say 19-20th century.

Michelle (Michelle_G) | 10 comments is this information useful at all?

Darcy (drokka) | 211 comments All information is useful, it's just a matter of someone knowing which book it all belongs to.

We recently located a book after 7 years of trying. Some only take a few hours/weeks, others take much longer. It's a matter of the right people seeing the post (not everyone checks every day) and also having read the book (or being able to narrow down through key words). Someone out there knows, it just sometimes takes patience. :)

Not quite a match, but The Bachelor's Wedding by Betty Neels? "Alice had been told two years ago that she had anaemia and must lead a quiet life..."

Michelle, what do you remember about the hero - his job, background, family?
Do you think location is the U.S., Europe, etc.?

Michelle (Michelle_G) | 10 comments I don't remember the hero's occupation, and its western, i think it might have been set up in the U.S

Side note: This group should have a topic for "Coldest cases solved" where we put items that have taken the longest to solve. A new item could be added only if it has taken longer than the longest one currently listed. That would be fun. (And encouraging to people wondering if theirs will ever be solved!)
