lethe | 16359 comments Are Amazon c.s. able to overwrite image uploads, even when uploaded by a user?

I have an ACE of this book (what else is new... :P ) and looking at the changelog I saw a lot of different image uploads. I'm just curious to know what the original cover looked like for this ISBN.

Philip (burnnerman) | 5912 comments No, there was a time awhile back that it happened, but currently imports cannot overwrite a user uploaded cover.

Taking a look.

Be sure to set the changelog to just the one edition, or it may not be clear what is an override.

Yeah I did, was still an amazing number of image changes, all for the same image.

A similar situation with Gilead:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/edits/...

A myriad of image uploads by Amazon, only this time the cover says 'Picador' and 'Copyrighted Material'(?!), whereas the ISBN belongs to Farrar, Straus and Giroux, as the description correctly states.

As with Home, my first edition copy's cover is subtly different. Underneath the author's name it only says 'author of Housekeeping', not 'author of Housekeeping and The Death of Adam', and of course no mention of Picador and copyrighted material.

According to Macmillan, Picador is not an imprint of Farrar, Straus and Giroux:

Can this be corrected?

ETA Here is the Picador description and cover, without 'Copyrighted Material':

Philip (burnnerman) | 5912 comments #7 - Taking a look at the image edits.

If you look at the title page in the Amazon preview it shows picador then a line and the other company, both listed on the title page.

If you look at the below page, you will see it is an imprint of Farr, Straus and Giroux

Philip (burnnerman) | 5912 comments #7/8 - Image reverted back to original. Still checking to see if there is already an ACE or if one needs created with the cover that was on that edition.

lethe | 16359 comments Yay, that is the cover I have! Huzzah!

I saw a few "first edition" records without an ISBN, they probably need to be merged.

Huh, so Picador belongs to FSG after all. Who knew?

Thanks for all your work on this!

lethe | 16359 comments #9 if you click on the url in the Picador edition (http://us.macmillan.com/gilead/Marily...) and you scroll all the way down, you'll see it's only available in paperback and ebook, and the ISBNs are different from the FSG edition.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Picador only publishes paperbacks, no hardcovers. In which case the correct record is already there and no ACE needs to be created: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...

ETA Crossposted!

Philip (burnnerman) | 5912 comments I think you might be right, but the ACE was already on the site, so I just marked it as such.
