* Description: An Alphabet Book of Fun Words to Say.
Don’t let the title scare you off... it is for purely sentimental reasons. Thirty years prior to the development of this book I found myself on diaper changing duty. My daughter was a squirmy little thing, and it took a bit of creativity to entertain her enough to avoid sticking either one of us with a safety pin. Out of desperation, and the knowledge that “B” sounds were the easiest for an infant to learn, I would say “Buh, Buh, Buh... Botulism!” She would giggle, and a pin would successfully be installed. As time passed, additional words were added, and the list grew when her baby brother came along. During many long nights with sleepless babies, I would attempt to make the words rhyme, as much for the mental exercise to stay awake myself, as to sooth the little one asleep.
I never believed in “dumbing down,” or doing “baby talk” with my children, and spoke with them as I would an adult. The exposure to words typically not used with children led to a rather impressive vocabulary by the time they started school. I believe their love of books and reading, even unto today, stem from this. I, of course, have continued this practice with my granddaughter, who as of her fourth birthday will happily tell you that “B is for Botulism.” It is for her that I publish this book.
The illustrations are little more than glorified “doodles,” the type of thing I scribble on post-it notes whilst on the telephone. I must say it was a great deal of fun.
If but one person finds joy in this work, or if but one child giggles with delight at the “funny words,” I will count myself blessed beyond measure, and all the work that went into this will have been well worth the effort.

This is the paperback version. The Kindle version will follow in 15 days.

Title: The Hypnotist
Author name: Alyssa Devine
ISBN: ISBN-10: 1507859430
Publisher: TJC Press
Publication Date: March 12, 2015
Format: Paperback, 242 pages
Description: YA Novel, Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

When, on an afternoon outing in Bayou Vermillion, Lafayette, LA, Amada Wilcox has her fortune read by Madam Zu-Zu, she and her friend, Tom Lassiter, never thought it would lead to her having a nightmare in which she dreamed she was being choked to death. Under hypnosis, Amanda reveals to Tom that she once was a woman named Kyla Decker, who disappeared 25 years earlier after being stopped by a policeman while driving home early one morning after partying with her girlfriends. An Internet search reveals the name of another woman, Cindi Lathrop, who disappeared some years after Decker under similar circumstances. As Amanda’s and Tom’s relationship blossoms, the teenagers uncover evidence linking a former Lafayette, LA, policeman and a funeral home employee to the abductions, men who they suspect murdered the two women. But then, in what appears to be a real-life enactment of what the fortune teller told Amanda, Amanda and Tom find their lives threatened by one of the two men they think was responsible for the murders committed 25 years earlier. Can the teenagers survive, knowing the last of the five tarot cards read to Amanda by Madam Zu-Zu was Death? The only way to learn the answer to that question is to read The Hypnotist.

Alyssa Devine | 20 comments Thanks, Philip. I already have a Profile, but I completed the information anyway, citing that fact.

Alyssa Devine | 20 comments Philip, do you know how long it normally takes before my book should appear on my profile?

Thanks.

Alyssa

Philip (burnnerman) | 5912 comments You do not have an author profile. What you just linked to is a user profile.

If you followed the link I provided previously, I think it usually take a few days for the Author Profile request to be processed.

Alyssa Devine | 20 comments Hmmm...will they transfer over all the information and links from my User Profile to my Author Profile? It took me a long time to set the former up using HTML code. And yes, I followed the link and provided the information they asked for...though it was a bit confusing. I am an indie author. I publish using TJC Press that prints its books using CreateSpace. Not sure how all that works.

Thanks.

Alyssa

Philip (burnnerman) | 5912 comments Not sure how claiming an Author profile works, we librarians have nothing to do with that. It is done by GR Staff.

If a book shows as being published by CreateSpace on Amazon or another valid site, it will probably be listed on GR with that publisher designation.

Alyssa Devine | 20 comments OK...probably doesn't matter, given the information filed with the Copyright Office would take precedence (and that shows TJC Press as the imprint with CreateSpace as the printer). Life is, if anything, somewhat convoluted these days. (;>)
