BarryP (barrypz) | 3498 comments Dark Angel: John Sanford
I suspect Sanford started this series to allow him to write a different kind of story. He mostly succeeded with Letty taking place in a sort of spy thriller set at the start of the Ukraine war. Lucas and Flowers are notably absent. (A)

Small Mercies: Dennis Lehane
Dennis once again tackles South Boston, this time in the mid 70s at the dawn of school bussing. In this time of tumult, he describes hate, love, betrayal and loyalty. And just maybe, for all that goes wrong, just a glimmer of hope. (A)

Here There be Monsters: Rick Buchanon
Science fiction, a light hearted romp though a corrupt and violent galaxy. (B+)

Simply Lies: David Baldacci
Something new for him, and could turn in to a series I guess. Heroes and villains, good guys and bad guys, though you are not always sure who is who, and of course, a treasure to find. (B+)

Proving Ground: Peter Blauner
A soldier comes back from Iraq with PTSD and earns his law degree. He also becomes embroiled in a series of murders and criminal activities by those close to him. Right and wrong become very fluid concepts. (B+)

The Devil’s Element: Dan Egan
Non Fiction, the story of Phosphorus use in society, and how it fouls our waters and creates toxic algae blooms. Finally, a way of moving forward out of the problem too. (B+)

Hunting Time: Jeffery Deaver
A master of twists and misdirection, he continues the trend in a tale of hit men and corruption. (B)

Operator Down: Brad Taylor
Working my way through a trove of book sale books, this series will never replace Grey Man, but I am getting used to the characters. The team stumbles on a plot to sell nuclear triggers to Iran. (B)

Daughter of War: Brad Taylor
The North Koreans want to attack the UN with nerve gas, the TaskForce wants to stop them. (B)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16925 comments Nice month Barry, I need to get to the Sandford Letty books. I'm not sure why I haven't yet. Your description intrigues me. I'm eager to get to the new Lehane.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments I encourage you to get to those, Ann! It's strange to read Letty with no Lucas or Flowers, but she is living her best life on her own and nothing wrong with that! She is her father's daughter, that's for sure.

Nice month, Barry!

JasonReads | 54 comments Baldacci certainly likes to start new series, doesn't he? He's currently got Atlee Pine, Amos Decker, Travis Devine, Archer, and now potentially this? He's certainly prolific, lol.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3498 comments Some of his series seem to be clones of whatever seems to be selling at the moment. As an example, as Reacher hit his stride, Baldacci does Puller.

Dan in AZ | 2960 comments Even though Sandford writes female characters like male characters, they are definitely entertaining.

Dawn | 1371 comments I enjoyed Dark Angel too...I'm expecting Lucas and Virgil to show up in future books!

I was surprised not to see them here, but I liked that Sanford went in a different direction than normal.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments I was surprised too, Barry (not to see Lucas and co in Letty's books), I wonder if Sandford will stick to that.
