I very much loved this book, and I especially loved that. I got to do it in a book group where we could really talk about it.
This book would be perfect for a book group discussion!I think the love/hate relationship between Addie and Luc was fascinating. So much more nuanced than I expect it to be.

Yes! I just loved the ending. Never saw it coming really until it was upon us.
I got about 4 chapters into this book and had to put it down, then it was due back...I need to get it again.
This was also a favorite with me. I enjoyed it even more after my daughter read it. She was so enthusiastic about it. We had some great conversations. Our tastes are often very different so that was an added bonus.
I gave this book a five-star rating, too. I wrote the following in my review, "The book presents Addie entailed in a good boy-bad boy romance dilemma. There is Luc, the Satan-like character, and Henry, the bookshop owner and similarly cursed human. Although this is a frequent trope, the author develops both characters and the triad's relationship well. The novel has been compared to The Time Traveller's Wife, and I guess it is so since both involve star-crossed lovers. If you enjoyed this book, I am sure you would enjoy this one. It sure made me think about the ramifications of what a life would be like not to be remembered."

I read that one before starting to write reviews here on Goodreads, but definitely agree there are similarities between the two books.

I enjoyed this book much more than I thought I would!
As a young woman in a small village in France in 1714, Addie runs away rather than marry a man she doesn't love and face a life of misery. She prays to the gods to save her - even though she's been warned to never pray to the gods who answer at night. She ends up selling her soul in exchange for a life of freedom.
But like all such deals, Addie's bargain comes with many strings attached. From the first page I assumed I could guess the ending, and then kept re-guessing through the book. I ended up loving the final ending to the book.
