((its fine XD))

message 303: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max watched her technique as she pulled the arrow back, impressed slightly at her strength as she pulled it back for the shot. After watching her release, his focus turned to the arrow that arched to the target. He looked back to where she was standing, then nudged her back foot with his own to move it forward. "Your feet are too far apart. You're unbalanced." He said.

message 304: by [deleted user] (new)

She shifted her feet and smiled at him. She grabbed another and drew again. She focused on hee target but didn't close her eyes. She let if fly and grinned at how close she got. "Not bad huh?"

message 305: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments "Not bad at all." He agreed. "But it doesn't matter where the arrow lands for now. Right now, your technique is what matters. Who did you say taught you to shoot?" He asked. Her technique was very good, better than he would've expected from her. Not that he was going to tell her that, as it tends to inflate one's ego.

message 306: by [deleted user] (new)

"My dad. His dad taught him and he thought it was a good weapon so he taught me. Glad he did" She smiled "I was pretty hopeless in the beginning"

message 307: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments "As we all were. You don't learn a talent such as this overnight." He said. He then pointed to another target, a little further away and a little ways up. "Now see if you can hit that one."

message 308: by [deleted user] (new)

She judged the distance and wind speed. There was a slight breeze but even that could change the arrows direction even slightly. She nocked, drew, and fired. She nodded to herself as it thumped into the target

message 309: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max nodded approvingly. "Well." He said. "There's really not much I can teach you at this point. Your father did a very good job, I must say. Now all you have to work at is being faster and hitting exactly where you want it to go." He backed away slightly. "So you keep practicing. I'll be right back." He turned away and walked to the cabin, retrieving what was soon to be Penny's double scabbard.

message 310: by [deleted user] (new)

She practice nocking and drawing for a while trying to get to Maxs impressive speed. She then shot a volley of three arrows each one a couple seconds behind. Two hit there mark but one was a little to far left. She bit her lip before going to retrieve them.

message 311: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max got the double scabbard and had just walked back out of the cabin in time to see her impressive three arrow volley. He watched, impressed at her skill, as she went to retrieve them. He walked down to where she would return to, waiting for her to come back so he could give the knifes to her, as it was obvious that he couldn't do any more to teach her to shoot.

message 312: by [deleted user] (new)

She saw him and hoped he hadn't seen her shot. She headed down replacing the arrows into the quiver.

message 313: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max offered the double scabbard to her, watching for a reaction. He was tensed and ready to dive to the side if she made another move to hug him as she had when she was given her cloak.

message 314: by [deleted user] (new)

Her whole face lit up as took it. "Are these.."She answered her own question as she withdrew the saxe "wow..." She replaced it taking out the smaller of the two "How cute!" She said noticing its lightness

message 315: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max raised an eyebrow, relaxing as the moment left with no attempted hug. "Cute?" He repeated. "Yeah, I'm sure you'd be thinking that if you were on the receiving end of a throw."

message 316: by [deleted user] (new)

"You throw this one?" She asked curiously. Must be why it was light "Do you throw this one to?" She asked pulling out the saxe with her free hand

message 317: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max nodded. "The smaller one is the throwing knife, and you can throw the saxe as well, though that one's used more for hand to hand combat among other things." He said.

message 318: by [deleted user] (new)

"Cool..." She replaced the saxe and played around with the smaller one. "How do you throw it?"

message 319: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max pulled his own throwing knife out of the his scabbard, demonstrating the proper stance. He pulled his arm back, then threw the knife, watching in satisfaction as it thudded in the dead center of the target he'd been aiming. He looked to Penny. "Your turn. Try to copy the stance and technique." He said.

message 320: by [deleted user] (new)

She watched in awe as it home "Youre amazing" She said taking up stance. She held her arm back and chucked it as hard as she could. Her jaw dropped in embarrassment as it thudded to the ground only a couple feet in front of her.

message 321: by [deleted user] (new)

((Sorry to big you, but what anime? :D Just curious ^-^))

message 322: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments ((What? What're you talking about?))

message 323: by Haley (last edited Apr 15, 2015 04:47PM) (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max couldn't help but smile slightly at the attempt. He retrieved both knifes from where they were on the ground and in the target, putting hers into her hand. He raised his own, showing her the correct way to hold it while throwing.

message 324: by [deleted user] (new)

((I thought you said you started a new anime c: ))

Penny took the same stance and held hers. She glanced at him and shifted herself. She took a deep breath and threw it. It was a little better but definitely needed practice. She winced at how bad it was "Definitely need to work on that..."

message 325: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments ((Oh! I thought you meant my profile picture or something XD It's Black Butler, and my internet is glitching and buffering and yeah. It's annoying, but it's addicting.))

Max nodded in agreement. "Yes you do." He agreed. He slipped his knife back in his scabbard and stepped back to watch her throw once more.

message 326: by [deleted user] (new)

((omg one of my most favorites! I cosplay Alois from season 2 :3 ))

She picked it up and stepped back. She took up the stance and drew her arm back. She threw it again, watching it spin in an arc and sink into the ground. She sighed slightly going to get it.

message 327: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments ((No spoilers! You know what's annoying. Sebastian: But I was missing something crucial, a - and then there was an ad. Not too bad, I can wait, right? No. My computer glitched out, and I never got to see what he was missing. I still don't know, and it's driving me crazy!))

Max watched as she threw it again, then watched as it fell. He pointed out a few corrections to her technique ((Because I don't actually know how to throw a knife, I'm just gonna be extremely vague)) and waited for her third attempt.

message 328: by [deleted user] (new)

((omg that must be crazy xD ))

She took the corrections and threw it again. It was getting better slowly. She just needed more arm muscle to get the knife at a farther distance. She sighed and retrieved it again.

message 329: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max nodded in approval. "Now you pretty much need to practice and get stronger." He said. He watched, waiting for her to throw it again. From what he'd seen, she learned quick, so it wouldn't take her long to get the hand of throwing it, she just needed to build up skill and strength.

((Should we skip the days of training to when they learn they're going to the castle? And it is. Omg, it's driving me freaking crazy.))

message 330: by [deleted user] (new)

((Sure (: ))

A few days past and Penny had been practicing all day everyday on her throwing and archery. She had set up an excercise regimen to get in shape. She also rode Anya most everyday to strengthen their bond and learn her signals and ques.

message 331: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max watched Penny and did his best to mentor her for the next few days. He ended up a week or so later, sitting at the table, looking down at a stack of paper. He sipped at is coffee, then flipped to the back page, which was actually a note addressed to him. Hm? This was unusual... He read it, then slowly folded it and set it on the table. What were they thinking? Assigning him and Penny to investigate at the castle? He supposed that it would be good practice for her, but it still seemed like a lot, considering Penny'd only been his apprentice for a few weeks.....

message 332: by [deleted user] (new)

Penny came in with two plates "Dinners done!" She grinned setting the plates down and pouring them both a cup of coffee. She scooped some honey and stirred it in. "Whats new with the world?" She asked sipping her steaming cup of heaven. She had never really been a big coffee drinker but living with him she's grown to love it.

message 333: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max accepted his refilled cup of coffee with a nod of thanks, then took a sip as he unfolded the note and reread it. "Well." He began, unsure how to state it. "There's been.... We...." He started. He then scowled at his inability to form sentences, sliding the piece of paper over to her so she could read it. "See for yourself." He said, taking a sip of coffee, ignoring the food for the time being, because he knew that as soon as he took a bite, she would ask a question and he would be stuck with his mouth full.

((We need to work out details about the suspicious activity.... Should it be some sorcery thing like Malcolm or.....?))

message 334: by [deleted user] (new)

((Maybe there are imposters throughout the castle and they keep finding maids and such dead with the same markings on them? Maybe its a cult or something trying to take over so they sent a couple groups to blend in and start the killings?))

message 335: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments ((Ooh, good idea! We'll elaborate more as we go or do you have any more additions? And what should their goal be? They have to have some ultimate religious goal?))

message 336: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments ((XD We can go Black Butler style and their goal can be to weed out impurities.....))

message 337: by [deleted user] (new)

((They just dont agree with the kings rules and laws so they want to rule instead))

Penny sipped her coffee as she read the parcel "So...Is this our first mission?!" She asked. She was getting excited to finally be able to use all her training "And how are we going to find the...fakes if the royal guards havent even been able to?"

message 338: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max nodded. "That's how I'm interpreting it. Our goal will be to go in, get rid of them, protect the royal family, then get out." He said. He tapped his fingers on the table. "Yeah, this is your first mission..... But it seems a bit too early... Maybe I should tell them that you need more time, and that they should pass this on to someone else...." He said this, thinking out loud, not really thinking about the reaction he might get.

message 339: by [deleted user] (new)

She stood up quickly "No! Im ready i swear! " She sat down again but looked at him intently "Im ready to go kick some tail" She said in a calmer manner. She hoped he'd approve and let them go. She wanted to prove herself to him and to the whole city

message 340: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max blinked slightly in surprise at her passionate reaction to his musing, looking up at her, saying nothing until she sat and seemed to calm. "You do seem to be picking up on a lot of stuff easily. Though you aren't Ranger level yet, you're pretty skilled. Definitely above what normal people would be able to do." He looked at her, then back down, grinding his teeth thoughtfully, even though he knew what his answer was going to be. He just enjoyed to see how much patience she had. "You'll be working on your archery and throwing on the way there, of course." He said.

message 341: by [deleted user] (new)

She nodded eagerly "Definitely! Won't put them down" She grinned at him satisfied. She started eating being hungry after the busy day of excercise and training. "What was your first mission like?" She asked curiously cutting a piece of beef, before rubbing it around in the broth like sauce.

message 342: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max raised an eyebrow at her, taking a bite of his food. He chewed slowly, then swallowed and spoke. "My first mission?" He echoed. "My first mission was a simple thief and killer who was traveling the fief, terrorizing families, raping the women, killing the men. I, along with my mentor, hunted him down and captured him. He might or might not have accidentally been paralyzed during the process of transporting him to the prison." He smiled softly at the memory.

message 343: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments ((I'm off to bed. Night!))

message 344: by [deleted user] (new)

She nodded eating her bite "I hate men like that. Thinking they can make us their slaves and do terrible things to us. " She took a drink and sat back "I woulda killed him for what he did. " She said simply before cutting another piece. "When do we leave?" She asked lightening the mood.

((Night! :D))

message 345: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments "Hm." He said. "Now that I think about it, I don't think it was much of an accident that he was paralyzed from the neck down that day. My mentor was a very irritable man." He took a bite of his food, then answered, "As soon as possible. But it's too late to go today, so we'll leave first thing in the morning. That gives us the rest of the day to prepare, then a nights rest before we set out."

message 346: by [deleted user] (new)

"Im glad you're not irritable" She smiled softly. Her first week was full of questions and knew the older man didnt appreciate all of them. She learned to hold her tongue and only ask a few here and there that seemed important. She finished her dinner and leaned back with her mug, savoring the last few sips.

message 347: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max appreciated the rest of the silent dinner, as he was expecting it to be jam packed with questions about their mission. But it wasn't, and he enjoyed it while it lasted. He finished his plate, then downed his coffee. He stood, bringing his plate into the kitchen and quickly washing it.

message 348: by [deleted user] (new)

She walked in as well "So do i get to meet the King? Do they have fancy food there? Is there coffee? How long do you think it will take?" She took a breath before falling quiet, waiting for his answer

message 349: by Haley (new)

Haley | 222 comments Max let out a small sigh as the small span of bliss was gone. Ah, well. He knew it wouldn't last forever. Glancing up at her, he said, "No, er- yes? I don't know if you'll get the opportunity to meet the King. There's fancy food for the royals and at the feasts. We might attend a feast, if it'll help us. If not, you're outta luck. And how long? However long it takes." He said, answering each to the best of his abilities, which wasn't much, considering how little he knew.

message 350: by [deleted user] (new)

Penny nodded "Well. Ill go get my things ready for tomorrow. I think ill brush Anya down too" She smiled putting her dishes away and went out after lighting a lantern.
