Max couldn't contain his eye roll as the man darted away from them. "Hm..." He said. He glanced up at her, still mounted on her horse. "See if you could catch him. Shouldn't be too hard, and I'll disable him from afar if I need to."

She grinned wider trotting after him laughing slightly. The scared man stumbled and tried to get away but Penny hopped off and planted her foot on his back knocking him over. Holding him there she waved over at Max"Got 'im!"
Max smiles slightly as she catches him easily. "Keep him there." He calls. "I'm going to tie these up, then go tie him up." He jogs over to the others, pulling the arrows out and bandaging them one by one. Then he puts thumbcuffs on them before walking over to were Penny stood with the other.
She watched satisfied with their actions. "Thats wasnt very nice was it?"She asked digging her foot in his back making him whimper
Max quickly applies the cuffs to him, the drags him to his feet. He looks back at the others, who were lying, tied up, a little ways away, Ace waiting beside them. He glances up at Penny, his hand firmly clasped on the man's upper arm. "What should we do with them?" He asked.
Penny thought a moment. "Im not sure. We can tie em to a tree and see if anyone is nice enough to come along and cut em loose? That way they cant try to steal from anyone else"
"Hm." Max said, scratching his beard. "Well, that's no good, because they could just turn right around and steal from the ones who helped them. We could leave them in their underpants and put their clothes high in a tree or something, so they have to struggle to get them. We'd take their weapons, as well as the money. Chances are, the money isn't theirs to begin with, so we'll give it away at the nearest village." He glances at Penny. "What say you?"
She grinned wide " I quite like that idea. Make sure they're very, very, very high" She said motioning to the trees.
The men groaned and whimpered again not liking the final conclusion

Max grins at her, then rolls his shoulders in a fake gesture. "I'm getting old. My joints hurt." He said. "I'll need you to strip them down and climb the trees....." He keeps a straight face, as it was easy for him at this point, holding his shoulder as if in pain.
She made a grossed expression but shrugged "I knew it. You are ancient." She smiled slightly but let it fade when she looked at the men. "Alright. who's first?" She asked rhetorically walking up to one "Come on. Arms up"
The man slowly lifted his arms as his shirt was yannked of none to gently. "I'm sure you can manage with the bottoms? She asked getting close to his face with a dark look. He nodded quickly fumbling trying to.take of his bottoms with out his thimba. She moved on removing shirts and letting them take of their trousers

Max grins as the halfhearted trick worked. He walked to Ace, slowly petting his neck as Penny stripped the men down to their underpants. Once she was done, he couldn't help but grin at her. "Thank you for that. I really didn't want to do that part. You said you'd climb the tree as well?"
She nodded and grabbed all the bundles and scaled up one tree. She tied one bundle to the tallest limb then hopped onto a neigboring tree doing the same until all bundles hung up high. She carefully swung down.easily landing in front I'd Max. "Wow its great to be young" She smirked
Max grinned at her. "Oh, I'm sure it's just wonderful. Not like I used my 'ancientness' to get out of stripping down full grown men and climbing up trees with their foul smelling clothes." He cleared his throat. "Well. Do you think we should leave the cuffs on them?"
(I'm off to bed, goodnight (: )
Penny grinned slightly then thought for a bit. "We should cuff of their thumbs to.another guys, so.its one long line of hooked men. They'll have to use team work to get their clothes back"

Max smiled, but managed to stop himself from laughing at the thought of it. "Sounds good to me." He took a step forward to start, then turned back to Penny, his hands back on the shoulder. "Could you please? It gets more painful if I move too much, which I'd be doing if I did this." He couldn't manage to keep the smile off his face this time, though.((Ok! 'Night!))
She rolled her eyes. "Whatever" She smiled. She walked over to one and undid one of the clamps. As soon as his hand was free he swung it hitting Penny across the face. He grabbed is knife that was laying a couple feet away and grabbed Penny from behind holding the knife to her throat. "Now. Rangers. It's time you listen to me" he almost hissed tightening his grip on the girl
Max froze, his throwing knife already in his hand, though it was hidden from the man by the position Max had his arm. He narrowed his eyes at the man, pretending that Max had absolutely no control over the situation, though he knew he did, at least a little. Surely the knife would reach him before his brain had time to process what was happening and still have time to kill Penny.
Penny didn't know if she should be scared or not. She knew with Max here shed most likely be okay.
The man glared "Now. Unhook my friends. Then we will be on our way. And if you want us to show you mercy you'll let us take the girl to" He smiled a bit making Penny twitch with irritation at his pigishness

Max shook his head. "No, see, the thing is, I'm a Ranger. And I'm very good at my job. See, the girl you got right there is my apprentice. I'm not just going to sit back and let you take her away from me without a fight. Now, if you don't want to die, I suggest you let her go and let us tie you back up quietly. I don't like to kill people, but I will if I have to. And if you don't let go now, I don't see any other way." He said, still hiding the knife.
The guy looked at him then started laughing "you're training a GIRL?! " The others laughed as well. He smirked piercing her skin slightly making Penny whimper slightly. A small trickle of blood ran down her neck
Max sighed. "I told you I didn't want to kill you, but I would if I had to. You didn't heed my warning, but instead injured the very girl I told you to let go of. I hope you were satisfied with your life, because it ends here and now." He quickly flipped the knife around, bringing it up and throwing it. It found its home in the small part of his chest that was exposed with a dull thud.
Penny shrieked as he fell back slicing her cheek slightly as he fell. She looked at him wide eyed "nice shot...."
Max nodded slightly. "Mhm." He said. He approached the body, removing the knife and quickly wiping it clean on the grass at the side of the trail. He replaced it in the scabbard, then looks to the others. "You gonna fight back now?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
Penny stared at the man on ground but shook it off. She wiped off the blood on her cheek "Thanks.. Lets not undo the others either. Don't want to take the chance again" She glanced at the guy one last time before walking over to Anya and patting her neck. "Good girl." She said
Max glanced at Penny, then nodded. "Probably best." He agreed. He then walked back to Ace, giving him a small pat before mounting. He sat for a moment, waiting for Penny to mount as well so they could get moving again.
Penny swung herself on still a little shaky. The men were trying to undo their cuffs "you can't just leave us! its almost dark! " one said frantically
Max smiled slightly at the man who spoke. "I guess you should've thought of that before you foolishly tried to rob us." He said. Then he raised in eyebrow. "I could always send you to the same place as him, if you want." He jerks his head to the body of the man at the side of the path.
"Its not fair! We have to survive to!" He whined pulling on the cuffs lightly.
Penny glanced at Max"We should go so we get back before dark"
Penny glanced at Max"We should go so we get back before dark"
Max nodded, turning away from the man with a nudge to Ace's side. "Let's go." He said simply, urging the horse to start moving forward along the trail, leaving the struggling men behind.
"wait!!!" they yelled helplessly as the two rangers rode away. Penny looked back at the men. Anya kept pace with Ace. "Sorry i made you do that." She said to Max feeling guilty for the mans death
Max glanced over at her. "No, don't be sorry." He says. "It was hardly your fault that he threatened you like he did, and it's definitely not your fault that he refused to back down." He ignores the cries of the men behind them.
She nodded slightly. Her neck hurt but it was hardly worse then a little cut so she didn't complain. "I wonder if the others will make it. I wouldn't wanna stay out her all night hooked up and defenseless"
Max shook his head. "I'm sure they will. There's going to be some sucker who finds them and they'll convince them to cut them free." He said. "That or they stay trapped there all night until they manage to break free on their own."
"It was there fault though. They got what they deserved" She kept quiet the rest of the ride home. She kept her eyes ahead, alert and searching.
Max made a small noise of agreement, then stayed silent. His eyes searched ahead, put on edge because of the ordeal that just happened. He didn't want to think about how close Penny'd come to getting hurt, so he pushed the thought aside for the time being. The cabin soon came into sight, and he glanced over at her, noticing for the first time the cut on her cheek. "Are you alright?" He asked.
She glanced at him and nodded slightly"I'm fine. It was my fault and i won't let it happen again" She said. She was happy to finally be home and relax after the days hiccups.
Max nods, although it wasn't her fault at all. He didn't say anything, though, as things like this tend to make people work harder to get better. Maybe this would make her work that much harder. Once they reached the house, he dismounted and unsaddled Ace, feeding him an apple, then leading him to the stables.
Penny did the same and followed him. Anya followed happily munching her apple. Penny grabbed a brush and started brushing her horse down
Max brushed down Ace as well. Once he was done, he set up a bowl of oats next to his horse, then prepping one for Anya when she was ready.
Once Penny finished she let Anya eat her oats as well. She glanced at Max"Is there anything
else need done?" She asked
else need done?" She asked
Max wonders slightly if she was talking about with the horses or in general. Deciding that he'd take it as in general, he looks up at the setting sun and shakes his head. "Not outside, not when it's about to get dark. I'm sure I'll be able to find something for you to work on inside." He rolled his shoulders, smiling slightly. "I can't keep up with the house, not with my old aching bones."
She smiled slightly and nodded. "Well ill be inside when you need me" She gave Anya one last pet before heading inside. Once inside she went to her room and flopped on her bed. She closed her eyes a bit, resting them.
Max nods and smiles slightly to himself as she rushes. Off. He then sighs, walking up to the cabin after her. He walks to a small cabinet, opening it and pulling out a gray and green Ranger's cloak, which he planned to present to Penny in a few moments time, after she came out of her room.
She couldn't help but doze off slightly. The sleepless night took a toll but she forced herself awake again. She sat up and rubbed her eyes. She stood up and went to the small wash basin on her dresser and splashed her face with the cold water hoping to wake her up. She dried of with a towel then ran a comb through her hair before opening her door and stepping out.
Max sat himself down at the table, skimming through some papers. He had the cloak folded on the table, and he glanced up as she walked out. "'Bout time." He said, his attention turning back to the papers. "Wondered if you'd fallen asleep already."
"Almost did. But i remembered i had chores to do" She watched him for a second "Watcha doing?" She asked sitting down She leaned over glancing at the papers to see what's written.
"Of course." He said. He glanced up as she asks about the papers, trying to peek at them. He sets them on the table. "Just updates from around the kingdom. Boring stuff, but I'm required to stay updated on that type of stuff." He nudges the cloak a few inches closer to her. "That's for you." He said simply.
Her eyes lit up and she jumped up"is it really?!" She almost squeaked picking it up as if it were made of glass. She let it unfold slowly her eyes wide "Its so soft. and heavy. and awesome and...and...and...awesome" She swung it around her shoulders and fastened it. "Am i invisible?"
Max couldn't contain his eye roll at the question. He looks at her, one eyebrow raised. "Hm.... Not quite. I think we need to work on your subtly a little." He said, giving a small smile.
She held out the sides looking it over "Thank you so much" She smiled at him before rushing over and giving him another hug "You're the best!!!"
