"A ladder?" Max echoed. "No ladder. I'll help you up for the first time, but you gotta learn to pull yourself up." He moves forward, lacing his fingers together to act as a stool that she could stand on to get up.

She lightly boosted off his hand and into the saddle. She smiled at herself "I'm on! Holy Crap!" She said but stopped when she felt Anya tense. "What's happe-" she didn't have time to finish before she got threw off, landing on her butt. She sat there dazed
Max couldn't help but crack up laughing, taking a few steps back. He calms down quickly, a lot sooner than Sam, who clams a full minute after. Max reaches a hand down to help her up. "Oh, yeah. Did I forget to mention the code phrase that you have to say for her not to do that?" He said, still smiling slightly.
She glared but grabbed his hand standing up. She brushed off her butt and looked at him"Yeah. You forgot to mention that" But after a couple seconds she laughed to shaking her head. Even Anya seemed to be having a laugh "So, what's this phrase?" Penny asked rubbing her sore bottom
Max glances up at Sam, as he didn't know the phrase for Anya.Sam was still smiling a little, and he blinked slightly as he realized that they were waiting on him. "Oh." He said. "Um, the phrase is 'may I?'"
((I think that's actually the phrase to Tug, but I have absolutely no creative juices at the moment so it works))

Penny looked at them both skeptically unable to tell if they were pulling her leg. She stepped over to Anya and whispered it in her ear quickly. She glanced at both men. She put her foot in the stirrup and swung herself up. She sat still waiting to be thrown again but Anya just stood

Max jerks his head slightly to Anya as she stands there debating whether they were serious or not, smiling slightly at the awkwardness in which she whispers the phrase in her ear. Once she was up, he said, "Now take her around the pin a few times."
She grabbed the reins gently and tapped the spotted pony's side. Anya stepped forward slowly and they traveled around the pen a few times. "Look!! Im actually riding!" Penny almost squeeled in delight."I thought it'd be scary but its not!"
Sam opened the door to the pen, motioning out to the field. "Go see how fast you can go in open land." He said.Max simply stepped aside out of the pathway of the horse.
Penny gave Anya a couple taps and took off out the gate. Penny couldn't gold in her excited yell as they loped along
Sam grinned after them. "C'mon now!" He called. "You can go faster than that!" He looked at Max. "She's not to shabby, is she?" He said.Max shook his head. "No, she's not." He responded. "She's better than I was, that's for sure."
She tapped again and Anya shot off even faster her legs a blur of motion. Penny dropped the reins and held her arms out laigjing. She pressured Anya's side and turned her around heading back
Max and Sam watch as she shoots down the field. As she approaches the tree line, Max tilts his head toward Sam, still looking at her. "Do you think she's planning on turning back?" He asks."Surely she is." Sam responds. "Look, there she goes. Now she's turned." They lapse into silence once again as she rides back.
She slowed her horse to a lope then a trot to a walk as she approached the gates. She stopped Anya right beside Max. "That. Was. Amazing" She said patting Anya getting a small whinnie
Max gave a small nod. "I'm sure it was." He took a step to the side, retrieving two red apples from a bin. He wordlessly tossed one up to Penny, feeding the other to Ace.
She caught it before dismounting and feeding it to Anya. The horse ate it gratefully. Penny.stroked her neck and leaned over kissing her horses cheek
Max watched as she fed Anya, then turned to Sam. "Well." He said. "It's been a pleasure, as always, but we'd better get going if we want to reach home before night."Sam nodded. "It's been fun." He pulls the Ranger into a bear hug, then gives Penny a hug as well. "Take care, and don't be a stranger." He said.
She hugged him back. "Thanks so much!" She smiled and mounted again. "Ready when you are" she smiled at Max
Max mounted Ace, raising a hand in farewell as he turned toward the path with the slightest of nudges in his side. "Let's go." He said to Penny.
Penny waved a farewell at him caught up to Max. "This is great."
Max glances over at her. "What is? Getting your horse?" He asked. He rested his hands on the horn, his already strung bow across his lap.
"Yeah. Now I just need a bow " She smiled expectantly at him batting her eyelashes. "When do I get one?"
Max looked at her, feigning ignorance. "I thought you had one, did you not? You're pretty good at it, too, if last night was anything to go by." He said. He drummed one finger on the wood of his bow.
"Well yes but yours is big and all good Rangers have that kind. Mines more for... like hunting or something. "
"I started with one similar." Max said. "We all did. Just a smaller version of this." He motioned to the bow in his lap. "You wouldn't be able to draw this one back, so you would start with something smaller. I was thinking you could stick with the one you had, but it would probably be better if you were to go to a recurve one right in the beginning, so we might switch you to a different one."
She nodded understandingly"You know best. " She grinned. She patted Anya as she rode.
Max couldn't help but smile slightly. "And don't you forget it." They ride in silence for awhile, going much faster now that they were on horseback than when they were walking.
She shook her head smiling. She enjoyed the quiet ride home after the eventful events of the day.
Max sighed, as he had apparently avoided further questioning for the time being. His eyes scanned the road ahead as well as the land around it.

((Sorry, got back from my State championships and was too exhausted to stay awake :o haha but ummm.. bandits))
((Ok! Sorry for the wait, I was visiting my sister))Max made a small noise to hush her humming. "Don't stop moving. Don't make any sudden movements." He warned. "Up ahead, see the patch of tall grass? See anything out of place?"

Max made a small noise, moving ahead to try to encourage her to start walking again. "I said don't stop moving." He said. "Look closer."
She urged Anya forward peering closer. She say something move and glanced at Max "Is it an animal?"
Max shakes his head. "I don't think so. It could be, but it's best to be careful all the same, is it not?" He reached up casually and drew an arrow, not nocking it to the string yet. He watched the patch of grass as they grew closer.
Penny felt stupid for not bringing her own bow on the journey. She kept her eyes wide scanning their surroundings nervously.

Max nearly rolls his eyes at the sad attempt at sneaking around. He nocks the arrow, still moving slow and casual, then nudged Ace to a stop. He looks at the one trying to sneak, then back at the few still waiting, making it clear to them that he knew they were there.
Penny stopped Anya "Max, what is it?" She asked shifting nervously in the saddle.

Max nearly grinned at the quick kick, but he managed to keep a straight face as he slowly brought the bow up, not drawn yet, but pointed at the man on the ground. "And what do you think you were trying to do?" He asked lazily, making sure to keep his eyes on the waiting bandits to make sure they didn't try to make a move.
"I don't have to answer to you ranger and your scum of a girl. Ain't she a bit young anyways?! " He spat holding a ragged knofw. Penny side stepped Anya away from the armed man
Max drew the arrow back. "Hm, I think you actually do have to answer to me, and to her as well. We're the King's Rangers. Does that mean anything to you or is it so insignificant that it blows right over your fat head?" He says this in the same lazy voice, forcing himself to sound almost bored, though ever nerve was on edge.
Two of four in the grass started circling the two using the distraction. Penny caught ones movement and narrowed her eyes a bit. She reached up and broke off a branch and throwing it at him. You could hear a thunk and then a holler of pain
Max glanced up at the crack when the branch was broken, confused for a moment as the sound didn't come from the direction he thought it would. He flashed a quick grin of thanks at Penny, then returned his focus on the ones who were trying to circle around. "I see it really doesn't mean anything to you. Pity. I really don't like having to hurt people." He let an arrow lose, an arrow already nocked seemingly before the first had found it's home in one of the bandit's legs.
He yelled in pain grabbing his leg. Penny winced but kept her eyes on the others. She smiled slightly having an idea. She tapped Anya until she was looping straight towards the other two in the grass . They yelled in surprise scrambling.to get away from the oncoming horse
Max watched in satisfaction as the man fell, then smiled slightly as Penny found a use for herself. He shot three more times, each finding their home in one of their legs. Once they were immobilized, he turned to the one that still stood in front of him. "Do I need to shoot you as well or will you cooperate now?" He asked, forcing his voice to still sound lazy and drawled out.
The others groaned in pain as the last one.trembled. He nodded vigorously eyeing the two waeily. Penny watched a small smile of satisifcation
Max smiled. "Good." He dismounted, quickly replacing the arrow, but making it perfectly clear that he had the knifes strapped to his waist. He quickly pulls out thumbcuffs and approaches him, hoping that he didn't see this as an opportunity and try to attack him.
The guy thought about his options but with two them fighting was impossible. He bolted deciding to run instead of fight. "Do you want to get him?"Penny asked smiling slightly at Max
