Plot: FMC and her mother moved to a new town after her mother takes a promotion at her job that I believe requires her to be near corporate. Her boss is actually her secret boyfriend and he was previously married however his wife passed after committing suicide (drug overdose?) leaving behind their son. The son blames the father for his mother’s depression and subsequent death. Although not fully revealed, the son hints that his father was cheating on his mom with the FMC’s mother which led to his mother’s depression. After moving, the mother announces that she is engaged and they will be moving to the soon-to-be step father’s estate. The step brother decides to enact his revenge against the FMC and proceeds to make her her school life absolute hell. He is a star football player at the school (probably quarterback) and super popular at the school so all the students follow his lead and ostracize the FMC. They call her names, leave things in her locker, etc. Having no friends and constantly worried about what he may be planing next, FMC begins to spiral downward. She refused to say anything to her mother as she doesn’t want to ruin her happiness with the step father. Somehow the FMC meet and befriends a girl that doesn’t go to her Highschool and through her she meets guys that are part of a gang and sell her drugs. She uses the drugs to cope with her growing depression as well as to focus in school. Additionally she develops an eating disorder which is super dangerous for her as she had an illness when she was younger that required surgery to her stomach/abdomen. She also begins cutting herself, in some instances she actually carves the words she is being called at school into her skin. At school the step brother promotes the bullying but he eventually becomes her stalker and even breaks into her house/room almost nightly and begins a “relationship” with her. Following the wedding and the parents leaving for their honeymoon, FMC has a breakdown and gets high/drunk and slices her wrist. Stepbrother and his friends find her behind the mansion and take her to the hospital where stepbrother learns about her cutting, eating disorder, and drug use. At this point he vows to help and protect her. Shortly after being released from the hospital, he has an away game and while she is driving back from school she is attacked. The attack is interrupted however the book ends at this cliffhanger. When I read this book I don’t believe the second book was out yet but I’m not positive. However as I don’t remember the title and haven’t been able to find it yet, I can’t find book two to continue the story and find out what happens. Recently I have not been able to get this plot line out of my head and would love to be able to learn how the story ends. Appreciate any help.

The step brother basically takes his hate and frustration with his father out on the FMC as he blames and and her mother for the breakdown of his family/death of his mother. I’ll post additional comments with everything I remember of the storyline.
