message 104: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Gray | 2 comments Gio's feedback was awesome! It was honest, and picked up on things that I had thought would get past a reader, but NOPE he pulled me up straight away hahaha e.g. "this feels like it's here just to make us feel sorry for the character" boom, nailed it, clearly that was too obvious and needs to be wound into their history more. Anyway, Gio gives great feedback both as a reader perspective, but then also some editorial and developmental advice too. SUPER helpful especially if you're starting out, but always good to get those different perspectives and feedback, wherever you are in your author journey!

J.R. Barker | 5 comments I really appreciated Gio's beta reader feedback on my first two chapters. He was quick, honest, insightful, and kind. What more could you want in a beta reader? He picked up on the exact things I was worried about, like introducing too many characters too quickly.

T. K. Howell | 7 comments Excellent feedback Gio and thank you for taking the time to dig into my work and offering some really useful pointers and advice and also giving me the confidence to persevere!

Stephen Santos | 2 comments Supernatural thriller with a war backdrop; an immigrant barely survives a skirmish only to soon find out a demon is targeting him in his dreams. His only answers come from a mysterious figure who comes to his aid during one of the demon's attacks.

Was hoping you might find this interesting and would like to beta read my first two chapters.

Would you be interested in reading and providing comments on a light sci-fi short story (or two)? The stories are set in the not-distant future when human-like androids are a part of society. In "Felicity 1.0" a team of roboticists build the first noetic android. In "Felicity 3.2" a man agrees to beta test an advanced model android for thirty days. The two eventually bond, but the story ends in tragedy. Both stories are about 7500 words.

I have a completed middle grade low fantasy book if you're interested - two friends, a boy and girl, venture into the woods in their neighborhood to retrieve a stolen book. Once they're inside, they soon get separated and discover that the woods are home to hostile, non-human creatures they'll have to escape from if they ever want to return home.

Hi Giovanni, I have written 8 chapters of a mainstream novel and am looking for an unbiased beta read of the first two chapters to see if it pulls you in and makes you want to read more.

Evidence of Absence is the story of a man's search for his own past, and through this search, how he comes to reconnect with his family, though in ways that surprise and shock him. The story is also one of a journey, moving back through time and place from the present day on a small island in the Caribbean, to his childhood in rural Oregon, where he then begins to rebuild the truth about his life and family.

Although Evidence of Absence is a personal journey of one man, the issues of family relationships: natural parentage and adoption, honesty and deceit, sexual abuse and neglect, sibling rivalry, inheritance, death and birth should strike a nerve in everyone.

Let me know if you'd be interested!

message 144: by Kearstin (new)

Kearstin Dunn | 6 comments Hey there! I'd love for you to take a look at my first two chapters! It is a dystopian fantasy, completed, and told from a dual POV!

Here is a very basic blurb on it:

Briar Blake has a choice for settling her crimes: go to prison for twenty-five years or become a willing participant in the Amnesis Initiative, a program that offers redemption at the cost of her memories. Desperate for a second chance, Briar chooses the program and finds herself thrust into the heart of the Axil Citadel base, perched on a mountain overlooking the ocean below.

Finn Price, a Regulator within the Amnesis Initiative, oversees the prisoners in his unit. Although he’s never been fond of erasing people’s memories, he is determined to fulfill his duties and follow in his father, The General’s, footsteps. When Briar joins his unit and undergoes the morality testing, he finds himself questioning the righteousness of the program and the people in charge.

When one of Finn’s unit members goes missing, questions begin to surface about the true purpose of the Amnesis Initiative. Is it truly for redemption, or is there something more sinister going on behind the scenes? Do they ever truly get their memories back?

The Amnesis Initiative is a tale of moral trials and hidden agendas. Told from a dual point of view, the story takes the reader through twists and turns, secret keeping and uncovering, and questions of loyalty as they uncover the truth.

Let me know if you'd be interested! Thank you!

Hi! I hope you're having a good day. I am currently working on my new project and I finished writing my first chapter, so your offer is exactly what I need.

Here's the synopsis of my romance: "Ava Welsh, perpetually single and facing her grandmother's dire predictions of spinsterhood, turns to a traditional marriage agency as a last resort. There, she encounters the handsome and seemingly unattainable owner, Simon Adler. Determined to win his affection, Ava sabotages her dates with other agency clients just to spend more time with him."
