Tara M. | 9 comments Hi Giovanni,

I sent you a DM to request your beta reading for my nonfiction book (sociological issues, women’s issues, and more topics most humans can relate to I.e., fear, Covid, career, familial dysfunction, bullying, identity crisis). Please see my message for details and let me know if you are interested. Thank you kindly! I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Giovanni
That is a great service and would help me out very much. my work is a women's fiction with romance subplot. would you be interested in giving feedback on first two chapters? can I include the prologue also (it is short - about 1-2 pages)?
Thanks
Ashwini

Hi Giovanni: Do you enjoy reading sci-fi fantasy like The Sword of Shannara or The Wheel of Time? The first two chapters of WILL OF THE WIND set the scene for a seven-novel series (of which two books are already beta-written). In each book, the main character, Eli, starts off as a clumsy young druid who has a crush on a druidess who barely knows he exists. In each book, he learns to use one of seven inner senses which will allow him to become a Druid Master and save the world of Fel'Arall from a great disaster that looms. Through quests and travels, he learns that he must take responsibility for what happens to him and that he is not a leaf at the will of the wind, as he first believes. Any interest? Email me at mi.cote@northeatern.edu. It is fine if this is not the type of book you like to read... just putting it out there in case you might like to read it. While I will appreciate the feedback, I am looking for someone to read it and enjoy it and the compelling characters I have worked for years to create.
Mike

Sam | 11 comments Hi Gio, I received your review earlier today, and I was extremely happy with the level of engagement you demonstrated with the manuscript, as well as your organization. I sincerely appreciate the newfound confidence you’ve provided and I’m so glad I got to hear your (hopefully) candid thoughts on the project. Looking forward to working with you again :)

message 60: by Reena (new)

Reena Bhojwani (inspiredmusehk) | 1 comments Gio did a two chapter sample edit for me and I was very pleased with his response. It was honest and fair. He was encouraging and helpful to share what he liked about the piece as well as what he thought was jarring or points that could cause confusion. I wanted to get a sense of what his response was like before determining whether I should move forward with him or not (in the near future). There's a high chance I will contact him after I've done a bit more self-editing myself. I highly recommend having him do a two-chapter beta read. See the results for yourself!

message 61: by Courtenay (new)

Gio's input on my first 2 chapters was excellent. I like the way he mentioned both what was good about them and what needed improvement. He provides more than a cursory look at things, delves deep into the bones of the piece. Highly recommended.

between, a retired Hollywood star of the classical Cinema era (1950s onwards); and his deceased wife, a Veteran Vietnam Nurse, and how they both used time travel in different stages of living as a coping mechanism.

message 99: by Hilary (new)

Hilary Kakanis | 2 comments Hi Giovanni!

Would you be interested in reading a prologue + 1st chapter combo for me? It's for a completed quest fantasy novel; at the moment, similar information is given at the end of the prologue as is given at the start of the first chapter and I can't decide where the information fits better for general readability

I would love some input on that as well as whether the prologue works to entice the reader to read more, and the first chapter hooks the reader into staying for longer in the world. The book is a longer one and I'm concerned about getting people invested! I'd also love to hear any other thoughts you had, but specifically just the pacing and where the info is given out!

Thank you for your time in reading this!

--Hilary
