Mesembryanthemum | 195 comments I want to "un-default" a book's default description, because it's wrong for all but one or two of the editions.

I'm cleaning up a book that has 25 editions on GR (there are 19 official editions, plus a few bot-created duplicates). The default description is for the 17th edition.

Is there a way to tell which edition has the "master" default description, so I can just change that one? I'd rather not have to edit all 25 editions.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments you could remove the "default edition" check mark on the one or two where the description fits (so that they keep that one) and don't forget to save and then go into one of the others and replace it with a new default (remove the check mark, add new description, mark it as default, save)

Mesembryanthemum | 195 comments When I tried doing that before, it didn't work -- the default kept being reset to the previous version. But I tried it again, being sure to edit TWO editions, one after the other. And this time, IT WORKED!

Lachgas, you must have given me good luck. : ) More likely, I was doing something wrong before, and I managed not to do that wrong thing this time. In any case, thanks for the good advice.

Sometimes the description is not doing what it should I feel but trying again usually helps - if you have done it correct.
