Leila picked her mop and put it into the bucket to get it wet again. She slapped it back down onto the deck and continued her chores. She wiped the back of her hand across her forehead to get rid of the sweat that was starting to drip into her eyes.

Tristan stepped onto deck and looked around before drink some rum. He glanced at one of the sailors as she mobbed alone. "Where be t' other bastards?" He asked her. He generally preferred knowing where all of the crewmen where so he could keep an eye on them.

Leila looked up as the Quarter Master asked her a question. "They be below deck, sir," she said, stopping her mobbing briefly. She looked around at the deck. She had gotten over half of this area done and had already swabbed the bow and just had the stern and the bridge left after this. "Do ye be needing something, sir?"

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass) [ Damn, I am trying to think of cool and dramatic moment for them. Rrrrr, do you have anything ]

((Ah no I can't think of anything! ))

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass) [ how about, the other crewmen return and want to have a battle, and Leila gets dragged in? ]

((I like it))

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass) [ Awesome ]

Tristan nodded watching her for a moment before he the stumps of the other crewmen. They were all bloody drunk, it was obvious in their walk. "Look at you all, you bloody bastards. Leavin' you duties again. I should throw you all off t' ship." He told them coldly.

"We be sorry....Trissss..tan." One said in a girly voice making fun of him, drunker than a sailor should be.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Leila looked at them with disgust. She didn't mind it when her fellow crewmen drank, but getting drunk before noon? That was just irresponsible. What if they were attacked? She shook her head and resumed her swabbing of the deck.

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass)
Tristan stared at him with a coldness, that shut the man up. "Well, since you men decided t' drink instead o' finishin' your duties, we'll have a brawl fight. Startin' with you, choose your opponent." He said pointing at the one that had dared to insult him. Brawling was a good way to teach men a lesson, especially when they were stupid and drunk.

"Ay, that's good. I don't mind takin' any bastard here. And I'll do it with one hand." He said patting one of the men next to him.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Leila could tell that the men were in trouble with the Quarter Master and was going to stay out of their way. She might be a pirate but she really didn't like it when they were fighting amongst themselves. She would rather fight other pirates or capture merchant ships.

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass)
"Well, choose your opponent and stop wasting my time." Tristan said to him, sternly. "Or do you want to me to be your opponent?" He added with a smile as he stepped further down the stairs of where he stood.

"Uh, I choose her. Ahoy! her. Come on, lassie, time t' better earn your keep." He said scared of actually fighting the quarter master as he looked at the Leila.

Tristan looked at Leila, once a person was chosen they had to fight. It was the pirate way.

Leila sighed and put her mop down. Six years she had been on this ship and three of them she had been a full member of the crew. She drew her sword that she had bought when the captain had promoted her from cabin girl to sailor. "Can we get this over quickly?" she asked the man who had challenged her. "I got chores to finish."

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass)
Tristan smiled, for the first time interested in watching a fight. He was confident in Leila's ability especially with Doraen drunk off his arse. "You may begin." He said gesturing with his hand to the foolish Doraen.

"After I win, I be needin' t' take you t' bed, Red Top. " Doraen said with a grin as he took out his sword.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Leila got into her starting stance and waited for Doreen to make the first move. She rolled her eyes as he taunted her. "I'll sleep in yer bed when pigs fly, Doraen. And ye have te beat me fer that te 'appen." She brought her sword up to block his first strike with ease, her stance relaxed and her movements fluid as she knocked his blade aside and made a strike of her own.

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass)
Doraen made vicious strikes at her, his height and strength superior to hers but his drunkenness did him no favors. "I've beaten ye before, I can do it again." He said with a grin as he became more aggressive, not wanting to lose to her in front of other crewmen and the quarter master, even if he was a bastard.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

"'Twas when I was ferst learning the sword. Ye won't beat me now," Leila said, blocking a particularly vicious strike as she stayed light on her feet. She knew that if he got close to her, she was in trouble. She was smaller and faster, but in close quarters, he could use his strength to push her to the ground and then she would be in real trouble, because she didn't want to sleep with him. She would rather sleep with someone of her own choosing. She twirled around and struck at him, the tip of her sword biting into his arm from his elbow to his wrist.

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass) [ How do you want to to turn out? Should she beat him or lose and have Tristan interfere? ]

"Well lassie, you can't beat the master." Doraen said with a chuckled as he slammed his sword against her's and pushed his weight against her, until he had her within his reach. He attempted to corner her against the post by pushing her further back. "I hope you smell better than you look, Red Top. " He teased her.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

((I want her to lose))

Leila's eyes went wide as she tried to keep from being pressed up against the mast. She shoved Doraen back as hard as she could but then tripped over a free rope as she backed away from him. She flung her hand out to catch herself from falling and managed to grab onto the bar around the mast. She didn't see his downward swing.

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass) [ Okay, just checking ]

Doraen had her, and she knew it. He aimed his sword at her throat with a stupid grin on his fast. "Looks like I'll be taking ye to me cambers, tonite, lassie." He said, hearing the cheers of the other crewmen.

Tristan shook his head, disappointed that Leila had lost to him. He had almost believed she would win. "That's enough, Doraen. Step away from her. I don't think any woman would sleep with you unless you paid them. " He ordered him.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Leila was embarrassed that she had tripped and that was the reason that she had lost to Doraen. Her face was as red as her hair as she got up slowly. She was glad that Tristan was there because otherwise she would have had a horrible night in Doreen's bed but she was also embarrassed that she had lost in front of the Quarter Master. She sheathed her sword and walked back over to her mop and bucket to leers from the crew as she started on her chores again. She was beginning to hate how shy she was and that she had a hard time speaking up for herself. She was a pirate and pirates were not supposed to act like this and yet, here she was.

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass)
"Oy, that ain't fair. She's mind for the night. I won." Doraen said angry as he looked at Tristan who blocked his way.

"You don't decide what is fair and what isn't. I do. And since you boys, decided to skip out on your chores to begin with, you'll be spending the whole day, doing your chores. And anyone who doesn't agree, can feel free to challenge me. " Tristan said as he looked down at Doraen. "Understood?" He said in an icy voice.

Doraen was angry but couldn't argue back with the Tristan. He threw daggers with his eyes at Leila before spitting on the floor and walking towards away.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

"Thank ye, Mista Castor," Leila said shyly once the men had left. She really did appreciate his help, but the Quarter Master couldn't be everywhere and at some point, Doraen would catch her alone and take his prize. She flicked her eyes up to look at him before they travelled back down to the deck and her mop.

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass)
"I don't want your thanks. Next time, be smarter about your fights. He was drunk and you allowed him to beat you because you weren't paying closer attention. " Tristan said as he critiqued her as she looked away from him. Leila was likely the shiest pirate he has ever met. "Look me in the eyes." He ordered her as he took a step closer to her.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Leila blushed even deeper as he critiqued her. "Aye, aye, sir," she told him. She had made a stupid mistake and she could have beaten Doraen. But she hadn't watched where her feet were going and she had lost. She could see the tips of his boots in her field of vision when he told her to look at him. She struggled with herself for a little bit, before her eyes slowly rose to meet Tristan's.

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass)
"You cannot intimidate anyone with you head down. If you want to be taken seriously, learn to look people in the eyes. Otherwise you'll be useless." Tristan told her, it was harsh thing to say to anyone, but it was the truth. How she managed to be a pirate with such behavior is beyond him.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

"Aye, sir," Leila said softly. She tried to be more confident and look people in the eyes, but she just couldn't do it all the time. She wished that she was better at making eye contact but she just wasn't that kind of person. She didn't want to be useless to the captain.

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass)
Tristan observed her. Normally, he wouldn't care about the crewmen or even interfere as he had done for her. But for someone reason, out of all the crewmen on this ship, she was the one, he did not understand. He could figure out all of them, but her and it irritated him more than he realized. "Tomorrow, when we dock the ship. Wait for me at the harbor, you'll be helping me. You may leave now. " He told her.

message 30: by [deleted user] (last edited Mar 18, 2015 01:37AM) (new)

Leila's head snapped up when Triatan said that she would be helping him. she was confused as to why she was being singled out and hoped that it wasn't because of what just happened. "Aye, aye, sir," she responded and picked up her bucket to swab the stern.

[ resident reaper ] (resident_badass)
"Good. Don't be late." Tristan said before heading below deck. Tomorrow, once and for all, he will figure out this woman and be done with her. Tristan smirked as he walked down the stairs, glancing back at her for a second.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

"Aye, aye, sir," Leila told him. She watched him walk away and blushed when he glanced back at her. She wondered why he was taking such an interest in her. She didn't know what was so interesting about her that he wanted her to spend more time with her.
