"said nothing." - most common phrase in the book?

Reading this book (ok, listening to it), it seems like I don't go very long with someone failing to respond, usually with the words " said nothing." Reacher stood out at first for it. But once other characters started doing it, some of the conversations started to feel a little funny, since most people are uncomfortable saying nothing in most situations.

Silence can be an interrogation tool, and Reacher has much experi ence with it. He also uses silence to show he is not intimidated by someone like a superior officer or government official. I've always enjoyed Parker's dialog, but I haven't heard it on audio,

He "said nothing" many times in "The Enemy" as well. It was a little annoying

Robert B. Parker had this same problem especially noticed in audiobook form. Dialog is hard to do well, but I found after a bit my brain just got used to how to follow along. Reacher is a very self contained so the strong silent thing seem to fit.

If it had just been Reacher who 'said nothing', I could buy the interrogation technique, but the lawyer 'said nothing', and Carmen 'said nothing', and others. It was super annoying.
