So, there's an upcoming experimental horror short story collection I'm interested in. The book isn't on Amazon yet and doesn't have a publication date, but there's a page on the publisher's website with cover art, a description, and an ISBN-13 number. For some reason, an edition with "PROOF:" in the title exists on Goodreads and lists two separate paperback editions with no ISBNs, but different ASINs (neither of which turns up any results on Amazon when searched).

For starters, I know this is incorrect since the publisher that's releasing it does not release multiple paperback editions of the same book. So, how should this be handled? Should both pages be deleted? Should one be repurposed for the Paperback edition and the other either repurposed for the Kindle edition or deleted entirely? This is an odd error that I've never seen before, so I'll defer to whatever the librarians think best. (If that does involve repurposing one of the pages to be for the Paperback edition, I'll provide all the book details that are on the publisher's website in a follow-up post.)

Links below (and yes, that title is something of an attention-grabber):

Liralen | 8224 comments The bots have been importing proof copies that are not meant for resale. Marked these two as invalid. (If we delete they'll just respawn, as they have ASINs that the bots will pull.)

Thanks so much for the help. I've been holding off on making an Add This Book thread until it gets a release date and an Amazon page, but do you think making one early would prevent more bot problems surrounding it?

Not even remotely. You're welcome to make an Add This Book request anyway, but the bots are not at their best behaved at the moment. (Hopefully the devs will be able to corral the bots sooner rather than later, but in the meantime, issues persist with both imported books and user-added, bot-edited books.)

Alright, I'll continue to hold off until an Amazon page for the book is created.

I've been lurking the thread of librarians voicing their issues with the damage the bots are doing, and you all have my greatest sympathy. Seems like an absolute nightmare to deal with. Thanks for everything you're doing in spite of them.

Drace (dracenines) | 7537 comments Resurrecting this thread to ask another question re: Proof editions. If I see one, which folder should I make a thread in to request that it be marked as invalid?

Asking because I just found one. From the same author as the proof editions I linked in the OP of this thread, even. Link for anyone who might want to take care of it: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

The Book & Author Page Issues folder. Thanks for asking, and thanks for reporting these as you find them.
