Welcome to another round of voting. The authors are Gide to Hammett. Voting is open from the 15th through the 23. Winners announced on the 24th. Please review the list of authors and the books that are eligible in this post and don't forget to vote.

Also give us your comments and opinions. Everyone gets one free vote but if you want more opportunity you can use participation points.

So only 3 I haven't read this month, but 1 of the them is Wilhelm Meister Apprenticeship, and I have the audiobook, so I'm down for that too!

I've read 16, about my usual third, and a couple of the excluded. I haven't read any Goethe, and think that when I do I'll start with The Sorrows of Young Werther. Seven of the books this month are in my (long) to-read list, the highest in the list is the Gracq, The Opposing Shore. Next is The Thin Man, which most have probably read. Anyone interested in those?
Diane, Burger's Daughter is in my to-reads; I have read and liked several of Gordimer's books. It's also in the "500 Great Books by Women" list.

I've read 26. I have England Made Me by Graham Greene and The Vicar of Wakefield by Oliver Goldsmith on my physical TBR shelf, but they are both on my TBR Takedown list and I'm happy to leave them there to take their chance and go for something else.

I haven't read Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship so that would be fine. I can get it from the library or perhaps on Audible. The Burger's Daughter is also in the library system and would work for me too. I may split my vote this month.

I can't believe we are voting for June already! It still seems like the beginning of the year. This may be to do with our weather, which has not been very spring-like so far :)

What will you be reading in June.

I think I will be reading Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship to get some German reads in. If I have time I might try The Immoralist too.

I will skip this month. Wilhelm Meister is hard to find in English, but not in French; however, I'm in Australia for the foreseeable future with no easy access to a French copy. I have read all the Gide books, including The Immoralist. I'll take the spare time to finish Clarissa and to get rid of some of my TBR books that have languished on the shelves for 7 years or more.

I’m going to read both - I read the Immoralist many many years ago as a student but as it’s short I’m quite keen to revisit it and join the discussion. I haven’t really enjoyed the Goethe I’ve read so far but always feel virtuous when I’ve read it, so why not?

Are you not able to use Book Depository with its free shipping and going out of business (Amazon has ruined another good thing) soon (4/26).

I'll possibly read the Gide, The Immoralist. I see that it is a "core" 1001 book, and though doesn't have a great average rating it is short. I read his novel "The Counterfeiters" and liked that (4 stars).
There's one copy (paper) in the city library here in Salt Lake City and it's currently available.

I purchased an English version through Book Depository. They ship free and it was only $11.00. They go out of business on 4/26 as Amazon bought them and is shutting them down. I really detest what Amazon has become. They've ruined so many good things. I hate to admit that I am a prime member.

The Goethe is available on Audible and I am pleased to be able to use up a credit. I read the Immoralist last December, so won’t be re-reading it. Am interested to see what others think of it.

This is so sad! Of course they also bought Goodreads so we can only hope they will not shut us down... :(
