Graphic novels naming convention

Is the naming convention for graphic novels the same as the comic books naming convention? The manual doesn't mention graphic novels.

I would think it would depend on the graphic novel.

Is it something similar to a Manga (which does follow comic book naming per the manual)?

Is it a graphic novel adaptation of a novel?

Is it something else?

Ohh I looked it up and it says Manga are Japanese graphic novels. I didn't know that. I guess then it is the same thing. I wish they included the word graphic novels in that page.

I've seen both graphic novel adaptations and original graphic novels.
