Dickens revised the text himself when it became clear to him that it might pander to anti-semitic prejudice. I know that he reduced the references to Fagin's being a Jew, especially in the later parts of the novel, but apart from that I don't think there were major changes, but then I have never read the original version and don't know where to find it.

It might be worth asking Jean, who is very knowledgeable on Dickens. She moderates the Dickensians! group. There is already some discussion about Dickens' revisions and various editions in the introductory thread of an upcoming Oliver Twist read, you can post your question in the thread below. Good luck!
