Well, after a visit to my dietician, I need to loose just under a stone in 6 months, so I went back on a diet this week. 1600 calories a day. So I guess I’m with you!

Good luck
If you're interested in Book awards for 2017, I've linked to various ones in my BLog. Apologies for the extra stuff but if you scroll to the bottom, you'll find links to the Pulitzer, Hugo, Edgar (mystery), Man Booker and Scotia Giller prize nominees and winners...http://bill-booksbooksbooks.blogspot....

So, my week hasn’t got off to the best start - into London early for a meeting after which we were taken out to lunch, with virtually no healthy options. Celery and carrot sticks for dinner I think. On the upside I did walk quite a bit to and from the train station/restaurant.
I regretted starting mine today as our heating is broke and it was nearly as cold as outside, so may have lost calories trying to keep warm.
Hi, new member here. We're having a heat wave here. We might hit the 40's soon! I'm trying to remember books and authors I liked many years ago. This seems to be the most active board so I'm hoping one of these book rings a bell for someone. Maybe you can help? Let me know if I should post this elsewhere.
In the 80's or 90's I read a series of books with a very short investigator (or HR manager) in a detective agency of some type. He had a habit of hiring people shorter than he was. (I know an HR director like this so I never forgot it. ) Any ideas?
I read a book in a series in the 90's or 2000's with a Psychologist or psychiatrist who worked with a detective or law firm. I think it was based on Northern California.
Did anyone else feel like this when you joined GoodReads? I feel compelled to try to remember all the books I've read during my long life.
Thanks for any replies!

Yes! Thank you Quillracer!
Help!!!I just discovered that in my profile, all my shelves show ZERO books. My books are still there, but now it looks like I haven't read anything. I do not remember doing anything that would have caused this. The strange thing is, only my 'romantic suspense' books are there... (7 in total).
Can somebody help me fixing this? I would be really grateful.

Oh dear. That sounds like a GR support issue. So sorry, but there is nothing either Bill or I can do about that one. Take a screen shot before you send a help message to support.

I am really, really sorry that I can't help you beyond that, Jannelies. I feel awful. I hope it gets fixed soon.

Jannelies. My shelves show zero books too but when I opened each shelf, the books were still there. Just the totals zeroed out. I'd still do what Nancy suggests, contact Goodreads..
The best option is to contact GR support but just a thought. Do you use only 1 method to access GR? For example 1 computer and 1 browser? If not and you have multiple access points such as apps on smartphone, tablet, or more than 1 computer, can you close them all?
Dear all, I've contacted GR and the problem is already solved! Peter: I use two desktop compueters and a tablet. The problem occurred on all three but is solved now on all three. Someone from GR solved it. I'm happy ;-)
Mine are still zeroed, except the total books, but the books still show up when I click on each shelf.. Maybe it will take time to sort everyone out. Glad to hear yours is fixed, Jannelies.

I'm not sure if GR explained what the problem was but I just wondered was it a sync problem if we had more than one instance of the site open at one time.

I've asked Goodreads for help.
I'm in the same boat as Bill, the Co-Moderator.My profile shows all my books (2242), but all the shelves show zero. Clicking on any of them shows the books on that shelf but not the total number.
I just deleted a book from my 'Want To Read' shelf, and now it shows a -1 quantity.
And I'm only ever on 1 platform - my laptop.
It's definitely a bug in the software and we can let GR support know that it's across multiple platforms and it's not an issue with multiple open instances of your account. It has affected different regions although I'm in Ireland and haven't experienced the problem (yet).
Update:Sent GR a message yesterday. Still no response. Odd because usually they're quick to respond.
All my books are there. The grand total is there. And numbers for books I added yesterday to my 'Want To Read' and 'Read' list are there.
As of today, don't even bother to contact GR re this issue -- and I quote:
"Why do all of my shelves show zero books?
Some of our members have reported that some or all of their shelves are showing zero books. This is a temporary issue, and none of your data has been lost. If you are experiencing this problem, there’s no need to contact us. Our team is working to resolve the issue, at which point all shelf counts will be restored.
We will update this message no later than 12pm PST on Monday, February 26, 2018 "

Thanks for the update.
Thanks for the update, Nancy. As long as I don't lose all my books, that I've been adding and updating for as long as I've been on Goodreads', since before 2010, I'm not too worried. Ain't technology wonderful...
No problem. I keep telling them my husband is part owner of a technology company that could solve their problems, but no takers so far.

lol.. Good for you
I'm shifting books from one set of shelves to another (and vice versa) and discovering all kinds of stuff I never knew I had. It's a bit like Christmas.

Great! More people have watched my book-promo videos than have read my books. Now if 37,000 people were to buy my books for a quid ... I'd have 37,000 quid.
I am capable of sums - despite what my teacher said.
I have a lot of books here on GR that I've read long ago. When I open the list, and edit the 'date read', the date changes. But when I go to another book, the 'date read' from the first disappears again. What am I doing wrong?

It's sigh worthy.. But check your settings. It can vary from bookshelf to bookshelf I think.

I agree, Gretchen. All of Emerson's Mac Fontana books have terrific titles, and the chapter titles in them are equally engaging, but I think the Emerson book you're referring to is Black Hearts and Slow Dancing.
Today is my daughter's birthday. Her youngest son, Patrick, 10, told her:. "Patrick told me for my birthday he is going to speak with a British accent all day❤"

You're right about the title. I was at work and distracted. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Yay, Earl! Local Washingtonian author!
I think both his Mac Fontana and Thomas Black books are great and wish he'd write more. I liked most of his stand-alones as well.

I liked Pearson's Walt Fleming series better that Lou Boldt's. I wish he'd write more of both as he left both series in limbo in the last books of each.
