Home page is too busy. But more room for ads and that's what we're here for, isn't it? Or it is what Amazon is here for.

We're not watching the Olympics, but then again, we're geeky people and not at all sports minded.

Only at this time does it sink in just how many channels are owned by NBC. Not even sure they are using all of their channels.
And I didn't even know I had Bravo in my new location.

I did watch most of the opening ceremonies and thought they did a pretty awesome job with it. I'm watching a little here and there, but can't seem to focus completely.
Something totally unrelated to the Olympics in Rio. I need a graphic novel to complete a reading challenge (for various genres) for 2016. As I almost never read graphic novels, does anyone have any in mind they would recommend? (Where else should I ask this, other than the off topic thread, right). Any recommendations welcome. Thanks.

I heard that the Watchmen series are very good too, you might want to check them out.

NBC really dominates the air waves for sure!

It takes some getting used to. I don't like the layout at all.

I loved all three Sanny mentioned. Others that I've enjoyed a lot include "Fun Home" by Alison Bechdel and "Persepolis" by Marjane Satrapi, which are both autobiographical.
Moving to some of the fantasy and/or horror I've liked a lot, there's "Hellboy" by Mike Mignola (far as I'm concerned you can't go wrong with anything Mignola wrote) and "Swamp Thing" once Alan Moore started writing it, I think in the mid 1980s. "Locke & Key" by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez has a devoted following. My son loved those but I haven't read them yet.
Bet you're beginning to be sorry you asked - I do go on! My father was a serious comic book collector so I grew up reading the classics, along with a lot of mindless junk. When graphic novels became popular it kind of felt like going home for me, but I know a lot of people are put off by them.

Regarding Graphic Novels: I gave only read 2 and enjoyed them immensely. The Rabbi's Cat Joann Sfar and The Adventures of Rabbi Harvey: A Graphic Novel of Jewish Wisdom and Wit in the Wild West Steve Sheinkin
It's not as streamlined as it was. I don't know why they keep messing with it -- I'm sure in another few months there'll be something else that changes that we hate.

It's just a mess. But what can you do? The answer: nada.

Reminiscent of John Wayne Gacy, although I don't know if he used his clown outfit to lure people. Wouldn't candy work better than money?
A friend told me that he had a friend who Gacy had tried to lure in a drug store. He didn't go with him though.

My kids were scared of clowns so it wouldn't work. Even some adults are afraid of clowns. It's a strange lure. I hope they catch those creeps!

Candy vs money might be dependent on age of the kid? That's just wrong, though...what next, Santa Claus?

That's so chilling. I bet he had nightmares for awhile. He's extremely lucky.

There's more than one? I was thinking about this today. If this is a group it's pretty creepy. I wonder what's up with that? Porn ring, weird cult? Scary.

Not sure I ever got over my fear of clowns and Santa Claus.

I am Jewish, so Santa was never part of my "mindset". Although, when I was about 7-8, I personally traumatized a younger child. Just before 'Christmas, I was wandering around the clothing racks while my Mom looked at stuff. I encountered another child who asked me if I was excited about Santa coming. Apparently I bluntly told her I didn't believe in Santa or I didn't know who he was. She went crying to her Mom who screamed at me and my Mother. In my defense, I was very small for my age and very very socially awkward.

That's so sad. I told my kids from the start that Santa was make believe and it's OK to pretend if you want. My daughter told her classmates he wasn't real..oops! I didn't think to tell them not to say anything. She got yelled at by the teacher which wasn't fair.

My sister found out late in life and promptly came home and told her younger brother and her little sister (moi) overheard. I was probably around 5 or so. I'm sure my parents tried to tell me she was mistaken. But they weren't happy with her that day.
