Oh, and the number of pages currently reported by Amazon is also incorrect. But the number on the Goodreads page (103 pages) from the original import is actually right. Because of course. ARGH.
Actually we do not know where the cover came from since it does not say, which means it was added before that was being recorded. There is a possibility that the cover was a valid cover for that edition.Reason why Amazon may have a different cover and other pub information is because the old edition was replaced by the new edition. I have seen that many times.
I have also seen on a number a site a reference to the "Augusburg Fortress Publishing" for a 1985 edition.
My suggestion would be to leave it alone and create an ACE if needed, especially since I have seen an edition from 1991 with that grey cover, so it is possible one was released in 1982 with that cover also.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough. The 1991 Sigler edition has the grey cover. I can't find any evidence that the Fortress Press edition ever had the grey cover (okay, maybe it's a dark grey cover). Is it really done for publishers to reuse the previous publisher's cover?
I know the 1985 is at least incorrectly labeled because Augsburg Fortress Publishing did not exist in 1985. It's a little unclear what the predecessor(s) would have been called then (Fortress Press seems to have stayed pretty consistent), but even if it was published under the label of Augsburg Fortress instead of Fortress Press, that could not have happened prior to 1988.
All I can tell you is that there are many places that reference that publisher for the 1982 and 1985 editions.I am guessing that they should be listed as either "Fortress Press" or "Augsburg Publishing House", but I am not sure which. Those 2 companies combined to create the new company.
Yes, I have seen different publishers use the same cover, and since There is not a way to guarantee that the cover was not used on earlier edition it must stay.

Its cover and other data were originally imported from Amazon, which now has a different cover for that ISBN:

That cover (the black one) is correct, though it's a lousy image (I'll have to get a better scan). The other cover (the gray one) appears to be for the later (c. 1991) Sigler Press edition, per World Cat (and also Amazon):

However, although correct about the cover, Amazon has the wrong information for the publisher, which certainly was not Augsburg Fortress Publishing in 1985. It was actually first published by Fortress Press in 1982. There was a second printing in 1983. (I suppose there may have been another printing in 1985, but I can't find any record of it.)
I think that this information (especially the cover) is simply incorrect because Amazon had the wrong information at the time of the original import. Since I do have the actual book, and since it was an import, not a user addition, can I just fix it?
