i have so many omfgsome of the saddest books i’ve ever read are also my favourite ones. i love setting myself up for heartbreak.
my list would probably be: a little life (never been the same), the song of achilles (how i love sobbing at 10pm), all the young dudes (choke sobbing over dead wizards from the 70s is my type of thing), the seven husbands of evelyn hugo (ruined me) and then crooked kingdom (it never fails to make my cry).
I haven't finished reading it but this book has almost made me cry so many times. It is called Monster by Walter Dean Meyers
if he had been with me by laura nowlin (i haven't read it but i've heard it either makes you cry or doesn't make you cry, your call !!!), reminders of him by colleen hoover, the fault in our stars by john green, the summer i turned pretty (series) by jenny han (the premise itself isn't necessarily sad but i did cry because of the contents of the book), i fell in love with hope by lancali, the things we left unfinished by rebecca yarros, a thousand boy kisses by tillie cole (again, haven't read it some people say they cried others said they didn't), five feet apart by rachael lippincott, mikki daughtry, tobias iaconis, the way i used to be by amber smith (check MAJOR tws on this one !!!), and you'd be home by now by kathleen glassgow (again HEAVY on the checking tws)
