Michael C Dreimiller (mcdreimiller) | 5 comments I just started reading "History of the Town of Ledyard 1650-1900". The edition that I have is a reprint by our local historical society and the author's name on Goodreads is formatted as "Rev. John Avery" as it is shown on the book. There's another edition where the author's name is "John 1819-1902 Avery" which is obviously not correct, and then there are 21 other editions that are grouped together with the author as "John Avery". The documentation that I found here said that the proper author name format should not included the "Rev." (as the edition that I'm reading has) unless necessary to avoid confusion with another author with the same name. I did a search and found at least one other author with that name. Does that mean that all editions of this book should all be changed to "Rev. John Avery" and then merged?

Scott | 8710 comments We don't use titles. The profile will have to be disambiguated.

Michael C Dreimiller (mcdreimiller) | 5 comments Ok. I'll leave that for someone else to straighten out.

Arenda | 26447 comments Most editions of that title were already on a separate author profile.
I've moved two more editions and combined them.
Also added title and dates to the author profile description: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Michael C Dreimiller (mcdreimiller) | 5 comments Thanks! I've added Rev. Avery's photo from that book to his Author page.
