What I know about the book was from the blurb on the back. It was about people from a certain plant and every year for the first 13 years. (I think, maybe a bit older) The main character was a musician who traveled to different planets which confused people when they would show up as a different gender each year. I believed there was a love story attached to it because it was coming up on the time for the kid to pick there gender but there was a love interest. Yes, this could potentially wreak of homophobia (it was the 90’s) but it also dealt with gender queer population so I have hope.
