Been a very busy weekend here. Enjoyed a sunny saturday taking my daughter to netball , then to a birthday sleepover then took myself to watch the giants play netball at Olympic park last night. This moring we picked the daughter up, went shopping then spent the afternoon playing the sims 4 and watching netball on tv.
I didn't get much reading done as I finished my current read on friday, which was also the end of a series so need to work out what I am in the mood for next as I am also up to date with most of my current challenges. I will try and get some books teed up for the week tonight thouh usually MOnay/Tuesday are my slow to no reading days anyway and Wednesday through Friday i ahve the most reading time

I was watching the footy earlier and it was pouring in Brisbane! Looks like it’s wet up and down the east coast

That sounds so nice - lovely time with your daughter!
Yesterday was so nice and sunny. And then today is 🥶🥶 the opposite!
I know what you mean : it depends on my week as to my reading. I am in the city one day this week which means more reading as I’ll be on the train. Otherwise I usually get more done on the weekends

Good afternoon all. It’s a bank holiday weekend here, an extra one courtesy of the coronation, and as is typical of British weather on bank holidays the weather is changing from glorious sunshine to wet and windy. I’ve been listening to Kings of the Wyld and am enjoying it. I also managed to pick up The Daughter of Doctor Moreau from the library yesterday so getting that queued up.
Louise, have you read The Island of Dr. Moreau by HG Wells? I listened to it after I read The Daughter of Dr. Moreau. I highly recommend it to everyone reading that BOM!! I thought it was hilarious in a B grade horror sort of way. One of the quotes I love is from Montgomery “I’m going to have a Bank Holiday tonight!”

I have to prep my dog's food today, so I'm just gathering the courage to do that LOL
My weekend has been nice so far! I finished my first book for the challenge finally, but I'm on mobile this weekend, so I'm sorry if it didn't link properly in the spreadsheet. I'll be able to look more closely at it when I'm at a computer tomorrow. I still don't understand why the Goodreads mobile app is soooo difficult to use for certain things. My husband and I were able to get a lot of planting and landscaping done this weekend even though it's been rainy on and off. Today I'm just cuddling with my 1-year-old before her nap, and then we're going to visit family later! The weekend is going by way too fast.
Weekend was great. A bit easy, doing some reading and studying, when my son is keeping himself busy. Yesterday afternoon we went to the fair and he got on some attractions and we ate a bit of junkfood, haha.

Are you sure it is a dog and not a coyote or something? haha

the app is the pits. especially how it eats text. I always end up opening up GR in a browser in desktop version on my phone instead!
I can see your book on your shelf, so on the plus side it worked. yay :)

Hi Team,
We've claimed about half the books we need for the month on our tracking sheet which is awesome, but it also shows that we need to start thinking about those longer books 400+ pages.
I'll get cracking on a 600+ pager after my current read instead of the shorter books I was going to do. If you have any 400+ pages you've been putting off, this could be a good time :) And just add them to the tracking sheet so we know our projections that would be great. We have to fill those 'required' page counts to be eligible to win

Put me down for a 400+ pages, I have a few options lined up. I have one 700+ pages lined up as well, but I need to see how my other challenge is going to play out before I commit to such a long book.
haha
you'll have to post a photo Tati!
And thanks, I've put a 'tbc' on the tracking sheet for you as a 400-499 pager

yes, that's why I thought it was worth calling out now. I know for me I take much longer to read a 600+ pager than 2 x 300 page books.
Always a bug bear of mine that 600+pages are usually 24 hours or more of audio but 2 x 300 pages can be done in about 16 hours. I wish the publishers would make bigger text so they were more pages. haha

Wow! We have already claimed half, great job to everyone!I am currently reading a 500+ page one, but I have a couple more in the 400-500 range which I could do this month. I will add them as soon as I am reasonably sure that I will start reading them.
The projections are helpful to see where we should probably focus more in the month. My usual book range always falls in the 300-400 one. 500+ pager books which completely keep you hooked throughout are a bit rare to find (thankfully happening with my current book, All Rhodes Lead Here).

Ollie is so cute, and deserves all your credit cards haha!
Happy Monday! I have a 600+ book OR a book that's 512 pages that I could commit to for this month (and I'd save the other for next month), but I'm wondering which one would be most helpful right now. Any thoughts?

Ollie thinks all cats are dinner, so he might reciprocate with teeth LOL
I just started an audio book. I mostly listen to audio while doing the dishes so they take me a while. Anyway, my point is that I just noticed that it's a "Dramatized Adaptation" and only five hours and change. So I think that counts as a 100 page book, since there isn't a direct paper equivalent. On the other hand it's quite fun to listen to!

Beth wrote: "I just started an audio book. I mostly listen to audio while doing the dishes so they take me a while. Anyway, my point is that I just noticed that it's a "Dramatized Adaptation" and only five hour..."Wouldn't you just use the page count for the kindle edition?
Beth wrote: "I just started an audio book. I mostly listen to audio while doing the dishes so they take me a while. Anyway, my point is that I just noticed that it's a "Dramatized Adaptation" and only five hour..."For audiobooks you use the default page count which in this case is 336pgs

As we need more of the 509-599 books I would go with the one @512pgs

That’s right Beth.
Usually we use the default edition for audio, but in this case the audio equivalent of the book is around 10 hours. The version you have is an edited version of the book with no print equivalent so it defaults to a 100 pager

Just quickly verifying, I am listening to the audiobook of Nine Liars, so I can use the default 449 pages as the page count right? Its around 11 hours of audio
Nistha wrote: "Just quickly verifying, I am listening to the audiobook of Nine Liars, so I can use the default 449 pages as the page count right? Its around 11 hours of audio"Yes. Whatever comes up first as a book for the audio - that's the page number you use. 449 is what comes up!
Who else is reading The Housemaid's Secret by McFadden? I saw someone was...curious how you like it?
Good morning all. So my bank holiday yesterday started off well, done lots of little jobs in the morning while finishing off Kings of the Wyld which I really enjoyed, I also started Seduction in Death for another challenge.Thought I’d have some lunch and sit down and watch the coronation on catch-up. Well it wasn’t to be, turned the tv on and nothing, it had decided to give up the ghost (I had been saying since November I needed to get a new one). So a 2.5 hour round trip to go and get a new tv and a unit to stand it on. My friends husband brought the items from the car into the living room for me.
I then spent another 2.5 hours putting the unit together and setting up the tv, with my dog popping her head into the living room every now and then to see what was going on.
In the end I finally managed to catch less than an hour of the coronation before I needed to retire to bed.

Awesome, thanks for confirming :)
I finished
It was nice to have Phryne back after a bit of a break in the series.I think it was about 7 years between books.
A new audio narrator for this one who did a fairly good job, but isn't as good as Stephanie Daniels who did all the earlier books. Her Australian accents were just a bit off and cringey which is a shame for a book based in Australia with Australian characters that we can't get a narrator who can do the accent....
Now onto my 600+ pager,
