If the work is part of a series, it depends on the number of books involved. If there are only a few split works, adding them to the main series as non-primary works is fine.
If there are many works, keeping the split editions on the same series page might get cluttered and a separate page might be the right way. I have seen series with 8 or 10 books that where all split in a certain translation, so a separate page made sense. (In that case, as the split editions were al the same language, the series title was in that language.)
The last option doesn't fit the guidelines as far as I know and I do not see any advantages of doing it that way while it would clutter the list of series on the author profile and such. If I would see books added in such a way, I would assume it was done by someone who doesn't know how the series pages work.
Is it incorrect also to create a series for each book? Example: Create a series for book 4 that was split into two parts. Then another series for book 5 that was split into two parts. Another for book 6, etc.
