Starting out July with
Murder in Rose Hill by Victoria Thompson https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My other book for the week is the cozy-adjacent
Mother-Daughter Murder Night by Nina Simon https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My review of
The Artificer's Apprentice by Tom Watts:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
And that completes my GR challenge goal of 40 (although one was a novella, I guess the 600 pager balances it out.) I intentionally set it low so I wouldn't be stressed out about it, but I guess it's time to tweak.

I always start our small in my GR challenge. I figure I can read at least a book a week (52) and then I round up to 60 -- though thinking about it, I should round down for 2 weeks vacation! I tweak it up if I get to 60 when entering books.
Here is my 4.48 rounded to 4 stars review of Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Urban Fantasy / Paranormal Romantic Suspense
Great Premise
Decent World-building and characterization
I wanted a little more closure on a couple of things in the ending.
My review for
The Girl Who Crossed Mountains by AA Lelita Baldockhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here is my 4.34 rounded to 4 stars review of The Burning by Linda Castillo:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Crime Thriller / Police Procedural
Darker than usual - The novel is graphic in places and the murder descriptions are brutal at times.
Excellent Characterization, Briskly Paced, Suspenseful, Gripping
I finished A Girl Called Samson
by Amy Harmon. I enjoyed it very much. A lot of book was set in Massachusetts near were I grew up and of ancestors are mentioned in the book. I didn't like the romance in last third of book. It was not accurate.
Here is my 2.8 rounded to 3 stars review of The Book of Elsewhere by Keanu Reeves and China Miéville:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Military Thriller / Science Fiction
This one didn't quite work for me. Stylistically different, the writing style felt uneven and unfocused at times which adversely affected the flow. It's also non-linear.
Despite this, it has a great premise and is thought-provoking.
This may appeal more to those familiar with the world of the BRZRKR comic books.
Here is my 3.15 rounded to 3 stars review of One of the Boys by Jayne Cowiehttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Dystopian Near-Future Britain
Mystery
Science Fiction
Provocative, Intriguing, and Disturbing
However, the twists were relatively easy to see coming.
The Story is told from 4 different points of view that goes backwards and forwards in time and adversely affects the pacing for me.
Compelling historical fiction set in the Kingdom of Poland in 1610.Adventure, military action, love, rivalry for power, best friends and bitter enemies... it's all there!

I just finished book #2 in The Winged Warrior series, a wonderful historical fiction that takes place in 1614 Kingdon of Poland.Love and passions, battle, intrigues and vicious villains... it's a gripping adventure romance.
A Hussar's Promise
by Griffin BradyHere is my 5 stars review :
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished a very good Historical Mystery, Death in a Blackout
by Jessica Ellicott. Book one of the series. I like her Beryl and Edwina series quite a bit. I like the story about women were trying to do help out the war effort in Britain in 1940. I want to read Book 2.
I really enjoyed that series as well, Alice. I hope we get a third book at some point, but not word yet.
I'm closing out the week with the uneven thriller
