"Here's a clear, plain English translation of what our government and the national health agencies have done: they have chosen a "safe" cholesterol level for the public that virtually guarantees - if everyone actually me their stated goal - that every year more than 1.2 million Americans will suffer heart attacks and the millions more will watch the inevitable progression of their coronary artery disease."

This is insane to me that they would continue to recommend a cholesterol level that puts people at risk for heart attacks/disease. Especially with the amount of money that America already spends on heart disease. He does make a great point about the fact that the USDA is making the nutritional guidelines for Americans. The USDA board is designed to protect Ag interests, not public health, so these recommendations are being made by people with financial ties to the food industries instead of medical professionals with no conflicts of interest.

Yes, I also found amazing that there are scientific “peer reviewed”recommendations on “healthy” eating sponsored by “scientists” with ties to food industry:
(Conflicts of Interest:
“The authors declare no conflict of interest. The corresponding author, ——, is a co-founder and equity shareholder in O-live, LLC”.)

Seeing major coffee chain now pushing a drink with oil and having gotten response from so many people when I shared I was quitting eating oil asking me “what about your brain, don’t you need oil for a healthy brain?” I began looking for some studies on “brain health” as it relates to oil consumption…I found study after study sponsored by those w/ties to the food (olive oil specifically) industry. There are some Hollywood celebrities also talking up olive oil, for “weight loss”, when they have investments in the companies that produce it (https://twitter.com/NitaMitchell/stat...).

It reminds me of the way that the tobacco industry once did celebrity endorsements to promote and later research to give people impression smoking cigarettes “not bad for you”. If I am not mistaken, down the line we may look back and realize the public and health providers fooled by the food industry’s promotion using playbook set up by tobacco lobby?!?

The China study written by T.Colin Campbell, from his research of the
same name, really shows how USDA set up for the protections of industry. Human health shown to be sacrificed for corporate profit.
