Rachel Sharp (wrrrdnrrrdgrrrl) | 37 comments There's a quote from an anthology that I am in, but from a story that isn't mine. I believe the quote is actually from Minerva Cerridwen. It's the one about Match Sticks that starts "In the weeks that followed..."

Is this just screwy because of how anthologies are credited, or can it be fixed?

Edit: After looking at the rest of my quotes, it looks like every quote from every story in Unburied Fables has been attributed to me. Help!

This will have happened because you are the author that was credited first. Are any of the quotes yours?

I'm not sure what to do about this - especially if you don't know which author they should be credited to.

Have any of these stories been published elsewhere?

Rachel Sharp (wrrrdnrrrdgrrrl) | 37 comments I don't think any of them have been published elsewhere. Give me a minute to look up all the quotes and connect them to authors. Hopefully I still have a digital copy of the anthology!

No rush - I'm going out. & I will need some advice from a moderator or a Librarian who works with quotes, as this is something I haven't come up against before.

Rachel Sharp (wrrrdnrrrdgrrrl) | 37 comments Okay, corrected attributions:

“In the weeks that followed, the girl learned about the many forms love could take. The Match Sticks made it clear that true love would not be defined by traditions or rules. One time, a middle-aged woman’s match even split in two to lead her to both her loves. And only a few days later, a farmer was tricked into taking a Match Stick by his wife. When it pointed at his best friend, she exclaimed: "See? I told you so! Now go kiss him and bring him over for dinner!”
-Minerva Cerridwen, "Match Sticks," Unburied Fables

“It was a wonderful flower, indeed. She had never seen its like before. It was not just one color, or two, but four: ebony, silver, snow white and purple, all at once.”
-Laure Nepenthes, "Handsome and the Beast," Unburied Fables

“Before long, they had settled in happiness, unmarried but not unloved, and thus they stayed until the end of their days.”
-Laure Nepenthes, "Handsome and the Beast," Unburied Fables

“The lady smiled through her tears. “Perhaps before that happens you will wish to adopt in turn.”
Moira C. O'Dell, "Satin Skirts and Wooden Shoes," Unburied Fables

Correct:

“Tuline raised her hands to the ceiling as if asking for an answer, but then shook her head and dropped them to her hips. “Well,” she said. “That won't do at all.”

and

“She's beautiful. Her hair looks so soft. I hope she thinks I'm beautiful, too.”

-Rachel Sharp, "The Grateful Princess," Unburied Fables

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ | 2279 comments My own feeling is I will need to correct them to just the author - not show the anthology.

But I'll wait to see if anyone else has an opinion.

Well, you learn something new every day - I have been able to shift the quotes to the correct authors & still show as being from Unburied Fables. It may take anywhere from half an hour to two days for them display correctly everywhere but it has been done.
