It was pretty okay, but they did erase lots of Inej's trauma and Nikolai's personality was not like it should have been. I couldn't bring myself to finish season 2 because it felt like a poorly written fanfiction. It's a good show, just a horrible adaptation
personally i loved it! it did kind of jumble up the story but the ending had me wishing for more! i really hope netflix renews it for season 3!!
kay— ahh now i’m worried. that’s very sad that they fumbled with such a great story. but thank you for giving me your opinion, and same to the rest of y’all :)
I have mixed feelings because their were some differences ( it was disappointing because season 1 was exactly the same and I had highhh hopes) but overall I really enjoyed and loved it
I really loved this season but I wish they had stuck to the books more! They had perfect source material but they still decided to change it for some reason..
Just finished it -- It's a horrible adaptation and I have several complaints. But lots of book fans like it so who knows, maybe I'm too picky
I was heartbroken after watching this season. it was horrible. I hated it. they should have stuck to the books.
they rushed everything to hell. I don't know if it was because they lacked funds or what but they really should have limited season 2 to book 2.
@Anushka they rushed it because Netflix is infamous for cancelling shows with any representation whatsoever. It's stupid but true. But I do agree that they should've stuck to the books. Zoya and Alina and Nikolai had the most off personalities of everyone this season
oh gosh. i'll be starting it today so i'll make sure to tell you guys my thoughts. thank you for letting me know though!
For the person who asked, season 2 has spoilers for siege and storm, ruin and rising, crooked kingdom, and possible the KOS duology
so i just finished the first episode of the second season!
here are my thoughts:
- as a fan of the books, i can understand why there are such mixed reviews from the audiences. the showrunners did botch up a lot of the plotlines. characters were introduced in different places and events occurred that never happened in the book. this can be a blessing and a curse. a blessing because it gives the element of surprise even to fans who have scoured the books from head to toe a million times. a curse because fans feel as if they have been slighted, and because they wanted an adaptation that stayed loyal to the source material.
- however, i have to say that in order to watch the show as a fan, you have to detach yourself from the source material. look at it through impartial lenses, and then you might enjoy it.
- i also want to add from this rant that i am just happy that shadow and bone got a renewal and a second season. many shows have been cancelled on netflix, which is known for doing so despite those same shows being critically acclaimed. i am happy that i get to see the characters i love so dearly and hold so close to my heart on screen, even if some aspects were mixed up.
- i recently re-read the six of crows duology and it was so nice to be able to pick out the small little details with kaz's mannerisms.
anyways, i really enjoyed the first episode and cannot wait to continue. i understand wholeheartedly what those who did not enjoy the show and those who did not continue are saying, but i honestly don't mind putting those grievances aside and watching it with its flaws. i'll continue to update with further thoughts as i progress. :)

HOWEVER - NO SPOILERS. NOT EVEN A SMALL ONE LMAO. i do not want any aspect of this show being ruined for me because i’ve been waiting for this for 2 years. sorry if that sounds rude, i just want to take in the beauty of the show without knowing anything so i can be shocked by anything that happens 💀
