kay— ahh now i’m worried. that’s very sad that they fumbled with such a great story. but thank you for giving me your opinion, and same to the rest of y’all :)

oh gosh. i'll be starting it today so i'll make sure to tell you guys my thoughts. thank you for letting me know though!

so i just finished the first episode of the second season!
here are my thoughts:
- as a fan of the books, i can understand why there are such mixed reviews from the audiences. the showrunners did botch up a lot of the plotlines. characters were introduced in different places and events occurred that never happened in the book. this can be a blessing and a curse. a blessing because it gives the element of surprise even to fans who have scoured the books from head to toe a million times. a curse because fans feel as if they have been slighted, and because they wanted an adaptation that stayed loyal to the source material.
- however, i have to say that in order to watch the show as a fan, you have to detach yourself from the source material. look at it through impartial lenses, and then you might enjoy it.
- i also want to add from this rant that i am just happy that shadow and bone got a renewal and a second season. many shows have been cancelled on netflix, which is known for doing so despite those same shows being critically acclaimed. i am happy that i get to see the characters i love so dearly and hold so close to my heart on screen, even if some aspects were mixed up.
- i recently re-read the six of crows duology and it was so nice to be able to pick out the small little details with kaz's mannerisms.
anyways, i really enjoyed the first episode and cannot wait to continue. i understand wholeheartedly what those who did not enjoy the show and those who did not continue are saying, but i honestly don't mind putting those grievances aside and watching it with its flaws. i'll continue to update with further thoughts as i progress. :)

HOWEVER - NO SPOILERS. NOT EVEN A SMALL ONE LMAO. i do not want any aspect of this show being ruined for me because i’ve been waiting for this for 2 years. sorry if that sounds rude, i just want to take in the beauty of the show without knowing anything so i can be shocked by anything that happens 💀
