Drace (dracenines) | 7441 comments So Jamie Stewart, frontman of the band Xiu Xiu, is publishing a memoir next month. Previously, an audiobook version of the memoir has been self-published via Bandcamp. The audiobook didn't have any ISBN number or ASIN, and it's since been deleted from Bandcamp (although it can still be viewed via the Internet Archive).

As such, should the Goodreads page for the audiobook release be deleted, or should it simply be cleaned up to have the proper information?

Another potential issue is that while the memoir is just one book, the audiobook release was split into three albums on the Bandcamp page.

I'm working on typing up a thread to clean up the Goodreads pages for the book's editions before the release and will add to it any information from this thread on how to handle the audiobook.

I guess they're retroactively recordings of a book, if that counts for anything.

The three albums that make up the audiobook were released for digital purchase on the same day, but not as any kind of bundle or anything. Just three separate albums on bandcamp.

I get the sense that this adds up to "the audiobook edition should be deleted from Goodreads". Will link the edition if needed.

Alright. I'm guessing this is a superlibrarian duty, but in case it isn't: here's a link to the audiobook version. Anything That Moves

Does marking it as invalid remove the Original Publication Date from the other editions?

Understood. In that case, is it alright if I post information pulled from the archived Bandcamp pages so that a librarian can clean it up and make it look a little neater? Publication date, description, maybe grab the original album art from the Bandcamp page so it isn't using a pre-release version of the book cover?

The physical edition of the book wasn't announced until 2022 and the cover art on that edition is specifically a pre-release version of the physical edition's cover art (the ampersand in the diamond is the publisher's logo), so I think it had to have been added to the page some time after the page was created. If it's not going to be changed to cover art from the Bandcamp releases, I think it should at least be changed to the current cover art.

Also, there currently is no new audiobook being released.

Information that I've pulled from the archived Bandcamp pages:

Release Date/Original Publication Date: November 6, 2020

Description:
A memoir of sexual misbehavior, abuse and no redemption. The stories are mostly funny but also depressing. They are in no way erotic.

For the love of God if we are related DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS
If we have seen each other naked and you are not in this book, you are welcome.

THIS IS FOR PEOPLE 18 YEARS AND UP.
IT CONTAINS GRAPHIC SEXUAL CONTENT
AND DESCRIPTIONS OF ABUSE.

Drace (dracenines) | 7441 comments I can confirm that the hardcover, Kindle, and ebook editions are correct. I started a thread in the Projects folder the same day I started this one to clean up all the editions, and a librarian by the name of Gem did so.

I think I might have been unclear in my description of the cover art - I meant that it was the pre-release cover for the hardcover/Kindle/ebook editions, not for the audiobook edition. Since it has nothing to do with specifically the audiobook edition, that's why I suggested it should be changed.

A reverse Google image search for that image mostly turns up the pages for various online booksellers, but when you click the thumbnails or visit those websites, they've been updated to have the current cover art that you see on the HC/Kindle/ebook editions. Kirkus Reviews and some odd ebay listings are some of the only sites still using the alternate cover art that's still on the audiobook. Yep, exactly that.
