Hi editors. I just thought I would check back in re: this request from a couple months back.
Thanks,
William.
Hi. I requested this get added more than 6 months ago. If you have decided not to add it could you please message me as to why? I would appreciate it.
Thank you,
William.
Hi there, we appreciate your patience as we work through the tremendous backlog. As all librarians are volunteers and there are no guidelines in which order to pick up requests, it can differ from 5 minutes to a year. I'm working from oldest to newest requests =D Also see "Why hasn't my request been completed? I see lots of other recent requests which have been": https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Do you want to help? Apply to be a librarian: https://www.goodreads.com/about/apply...
I really want to help you, but we cannot use Google Books. We need a webpage showing the (ISBN/ASIN and other) book data. We also need it for the cover image. It should be non-bookseller site (Amazon & AbeBooks excepted), so from the publisher, library or another acceptable site: https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...
Alternatively, if you have the book, we can use a scan/photo of your copy for the cover and the page with the publication information (you can upload a scan/photo of your own to the "more photos..." section of your profile (https://www.goodreads.com/photo/new)), then copy the link here and a librarian can add it. Make sure you state the source of the photo in the text.
I'll track this request, so when you reply I'll get a 'ping', which will make sure you don't have to wait for a long time anymore.
Thanks for getting back to me. I confess I had rather forgotten about this, last enquiring about it eight months ago. I included the ISBN in my original request but can't currently find a link to a webpage that features it. I understand if it can't be added.
I totally understand. I've looked a bit online as well and found a website where I can validate the data, but not a cover. So here it is: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...If you have the book, you can take a picture and share it (see my previous instructions).

Title: The African Origin of Civilization
Authors: Diana Craig Patch, Alisa LaGamma
ISBN: 9781588397508
Publisher: Metropolitan Museum of Art
Date: 2022
Format: Paperback
Page Count: 48 pages
Description: This Bulletin highlights five millennia of extraordinary artistic production on the African continent. Twenty-one pairings unite masterpieces from the Museum’s collections of ancient Egyptian and West and Central African art to reveal unexpected parallels and contrasts across time and cultures. The title pays special homage to Senegalese scholar and humanist Cheikh Anta Diop, whose book The African Origin of Civilization: Myth or Reality (1974) challenged prevailing attitudes and advocated for recentering Africa as the source of humanity’s common ancestors and many widespread cultural practices. Building on Diop’s premise, this volume allows readers to delve into the rich histories and diverse artistic traditions from the cradle of human creativity.
