If I had to file it, I would file it under "Violence Against Women"
Camille Preaker is a journalist covering the story of the murder of one and now the disappearance of a second young girl from her home town. But not all homecomings are happy. Camille's ghosts have haunted her since she left this town; memories of this place have driven her into psych wards and have done irrevocable damage. What will the body count be this time?
Not a particularly enjoyable read, I felt very tense and anxious throughout the majority of the book - but it was a good story. Would I recommend it? Probably not. There was a lot of sexual violence against women throughout and the main character is disturbed and does not handle many things well, very damaged - this led to many demeaning scenarios that made me feel very uncomfortable. To the author's credit, I feel like this was entirely intentional and was very well executed.

Gone Girl was better, IMO.
