March 2023 - A Character Who Works With Animals

For this prompt, find a character who works with animals. This may be the main character or a secondary character. Their work may or may not be significant to the plot.

Some examples include but are not limited to: veterinarians, animal shelter workers, dog walkers, pet sitters, pet shop owners, animal advocates or wildlife conservationists, farmers, ranchers, bull riders, animal trainers, police dog handlers, etc. There are many options for interpreting this prompt. As with all our prompts, this could be a fiction or non-fiction read.

Here is the link for our Goodreads List, feel free to add your suggestions to it!

Megan (booktraveller4life) | 174 comments Any opinions on if Fox & I by Catherine Raven would fit this category? Idk if she “works” with the fox. More like develops a friendship with. But she does work as a biologist. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Karin Aha, this is a big unusual, but there is one in Heaven's River--she's a biologist so mostly cataloguing all animals in as many planets as she can, but to me that counts :)

if you want a memoir about grief, that is also about hawks, and also about T.H. White and also about nature. Then this is your book.
I gave it 3.5 stars. It is read by the author on audio.
