I just read the part in ch48 where we learn about (view spoiler)[ the dead king folklore and how this may originate back with the Vikings. Wow, this is some crazy stuff!

I’m also very curious about Charlie bringing up the point that he should feel a bit weird that he is able to track down the information so quickly and easily, but then does not. Like he’s supposed to, or something like that. Very intriguing! (hide spoiler)]

I don’t feel weird about it anymore cause so much has fell in line for Charlie, it’s just crazy.

Yeah, I really loved this about the book. Love me some weird folklore and (view spoiler)[potential old Gods that are being worshipped. (hide spoiler)]

That's the great thing about these books and Connolly. He does the research on stuff like this and tries to base his fiction on real information either with (view spoiler)[fallen angels, pagan religions from back in the day, and also old Gods and customs from a long time ago or I've just never heard of yet! Omg!! I finished! That is one of the best endings we’ve had so far. I know i probably say this about all of them but this is one of my favorites. I’m ready to start the next one asap! I'm so glad you loved this one. That ending was fantastic! Just when you think it's over, oh it's not.

On your spoiler thoughts: (view spoiler)[I think most of him went into the dead bird but not sure if all of the dead king did and some is still lurking in good ole Cassander. Will he ever wake up from a coma or is he brain dead? Leaves it open for sequel on this plot if Connolly wants to do it. (hide spoiler)]

And that ending was crazy! (view spoiler)[Sam is blowing my dang mind away right now. Besides seeing ghosts, it's like she can see into the future and knew that Cassander was coming for her.
And she got ready for it. (hide spoiler)] Wow!!

I totally was not expecting that ending. Just the tag team of (view spoiler)[Sam and Jennifer is awesome in this book with their chapters. (hide spoiler)]

And I can start the next soon too. I don't have much in April except for my sci-fi BR on The Expanse and I think I'll try and read The Silent Companions with the HA group if my library loan comes in.
Other then that, I can fit another in as soon as possible. This series is awesome!

I agree with you both. I’m amazed that with each book, there can be bad guys that I hate even more than the ones before!

I’m still plugging away on that beta read, so I’m still dragging here. I’ve made it into part IV, ch 71 now. You can really feel this one building up towards the confrontation that is surely coming. I should be able to get to the next book later in the month next month if we want to keep going.

I also liked how everyone in this book has referred to (view spoiler)[Charlie as the hunter too (hide spoiler)]. It's super satisfying especially with him (view spoiler)[going after the Cut! (hide spoiler)] I hated them so much and totally agree with you Terry. I didn't think there were more bad guys to hate as much as the last book and the one before. hahaha

I will have to say though that I think the bad guys so far in the series that scared me the most was from book 3. 😱

So I FINALLY got finished. Wow, that ending! I was definitely not expecting that. (view spoiler)[ And I love the combination of Sam and Jennifer also. Such a unique idea, and the mysteriousness of it is just great.

I'm like you Latasha, I did not quite understand why there was still some part of the Dead King left in Cassander after the bird was burned, but if it really was the king of dead things that was there, you might expect that it would take more than what Sam did to get it completely gone. (hide spoiler)]

Another fantastic book. I continue to be amazed by this series. It is cemented as my favorite series of all time now. Can't wait to see what is next.

Right?! I was not expecting such a wild ending to this one and for it to involve (view spoiler)[Sam and Jennifer. Charlie Parker thought he had only one creepy and weird daughter but oh no (hide spoiler)]....hahaha!

From your spoiler, that's a good point and since he is (view spoiler)[the king of dead things, it might take more then a small bird to be a vessel. That skeleton knight that they had for it's vessel was wild. I would love to see that in a horror movie. It would be fantastic! (hide spoiler)]

I am also amazed by this series. It's a favorite of mine too and I'm excited to get to the next one when it works for us all.
I could get to A Game of Ghosts by mid April if it works for you all?
