giuli (gobbatogiuli) | 18 comments Regarding these two pages of the same edition with ISBN: 9788571645400 / ISBN-10: 857164540X

main cover page
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

alternate cover edition page
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Context: The most recent edition is the 384 pages, 2015 one, listed as alternate. The oldest, no-longer published, edition is the 378 pages, 1996 one, listed as main cover. They both have the same ISBN because the editor recycled it and moved it to a new publishing house within the first one.

What seems to be the problem: The book page has an alternate cover edition, but
1st: The information regarding the alternate cover edition (oldest) are actually showing up as the main edition, which should be displaying the most recent (384 pages, 2015)
2nd: The cover are duplicates, the actual old version was deleted a long time ago mistakenly by someone and now it's impossible to upload the alternate cover and keep the new one too.

Sugestion: maybe invert the main and alternate's information, and then change the alternate cover to the correct one?
I tried to do this for the past two hours and it just doesn't let me switch between them and edit only the alternate one.

Thank you so much!

Emily | 17496 comments Is this the 1996 cover? I reverted someone's change and then will continue looking at it.

lethe | 16359 comments In the past, the edition already in the system was considered the main one and kept the ISBN and editions with other covers that were added later were considered the ACEs and did not get the ISBN transferred. That policy was changed a few years back.

(Just some background information to explain why you may come across cases like these.)

giuli (gobbatogiuli) | 18 comments Oh okay, thank you Lethe!

The problem was that the information is still swapped somehow and since I wasn’t able to edit the ACE info, I couldn’t do much

Now that the 1996 was put back, maybe the problem can be solved just by correcting the information on each edition, but as I said I don’t seem to find a way to edit an ACE without editing a main book, even though they have different pages

Thank you all so much for your help ✨ will look into it a bit more too

You're welcome :)

I think Emily is already on the case, so I suggest leaving it to her. If you both starting editing these records it might mess things up ;)

giuli (gobbatogiuli) | 18 comments of course, I meant look into it as in the ACE thing and learn about the policies for books printed in my country! I’m a curious person, but no worries I won’t edit it (:

thanks again!
