Jen K | 3143 comments Interconnected stories spanning generations of a somewhat connected cast of characters in the US and Japan. The story starts with an archeology dig in the Artic where Clara is trying to document climate change to save the Earth but instead finds a extremely deadly and contagious plague. The subsequent stories are dealing with the sick and the dead such as doctors, researchers, caretakers and funerary services. The world has changed with death and caring for the ill as the number one business and then there is the aftermath of those coping from their losses and readjusting to a new world.

The stories are well done and I enjoyed trying to figure out how they all connected. Some are bit sci-fi while others are true slice of life vignettes of life with or after plague. It is a fascinating concept and I enjoyed despite the heavy nature of the plague.
