I really enjoyed reading that judgment.I had been iffy on whether I wanted to read Goose - I dislike the cover art, and that always influences me, and all the reviews seemed to indicate it was not going to be the kind of book that I would like. But I'm swayed now!! Onto to the giant TBR with you, Goose!

Nadine squared on this opinion!
That being said, when one book is described as "annoying" and the other as "wildly original" in the judgment, one might expect a little heat from the commentariat.
I have to admit I enjoyed the provocation. Seemed like we've had a lot of polite, both books are basically pretty good, judgements. Sometimes we need a spark.
I am very happy about today’s win. The Book of Goose is the only one of my personal favorites to still be in the running. It could win! I also really enjoyed what the judge and commentariat all had to say. I love when it gets spirited.
I really liked both books, so the polarization is weird to me. I did t see them as all that different (in terms of approachability) I guess.

Always blows my mind how different all our tastes are when, for the most part, we’re the same.

Me too! (And I’d read from the author, but it was the cover that pulled me in as soon as I saw it in our bookstore.) I never buy books unless I like their covers, and with this I didn’t even care what it was about, 😂

I can see that. It's a striking cover, makes sense that it would inspire strong reactions both for and against it.
