So I recently finished Trouble is What I Do by Walter Mosley. He is easily one of my favorite authors and this book introduced me to Leonid McGill, who I plan to read more about. I also read The Great Alone which deals with a Vietnam Vet's family as it moves to Alaska and how they survive there. Both good books to read.
