I can't remember, but I think I voted for Sea of Tranquility as a zombie, so ... that made no difference hahaha!!

Right? Picking the zombies is especially tough, because you have to first predict they will have previously lost. Tough one.

Maybe both of you want to make/clean up a "want to read" shelf for us to pick from as your prize? :)

Oh my gosh, you are so right. I'm a doofus. Fixing everything now.

Nobody can overtake Jessica Maria for the win in the bracket contest tomorrow. Congratulations Jessica Maria!!!
(Kyle does continue to hold on to the Hoover; he can't be outdone.)

Congratulations to the Book of Goose, which I didn’t think would beat The Passage but really loved!

So . . . in setting up the bracket spreadsheet, I just used the formulas from the past years' bracket competitions. But I think the basis of the 16 points for yesterday's round is: 4 points for correctly predicting the outcome of a zombie round; plus, because it was an upset, the 4-point value of the round multiplied by the seed differential (in this instance, a 3 point difference) -- altogether then, 4 + 12 = 16.

I picked it the exact opposite way. Oh, well.

And congrats to Maggie who won my March newsletter giveaway! She picked Cantoras, one of my all-time favorites. <3

Yes - congrats! Is your "to read" shelf all books that you do not currently own? If so I think I spotted the one I want to send you as your prize. :)

Congrats!"
I added you as a friend so I could send you a message :)

I was also wondering... Since last year had such limited discussion (I blame Discord and the books being selected by popular vote, which I know seems counterintuitive, but...) and so many complaints that I wouldn't be surprised if the organizers take a break.
I can move this to the 2024 contenders thread, but I haven't had any knocked-it-out-of-the-park, five-star (2023 lit fic) reads yet this year (where I've had multiple by this time the past few years), so I guess I'm not sure what I'd be eager to see in summer camp yet, although I've read a handful of four-star books that could spark a great discussion.
Edit: Now that I've looked at my Goodreads history for the year, I see that I gave five stars to Maame, Endpapers, and Vanishing Maps. Also, I'm reading Carmen and Grace: A Novel right now, and it definitely has five-star potential. And I thought the first half/two-thirds of Inside the Wolf was one of the best books I've ever read (especially craft-wise), but it didn't quite stick the landing for me.

As far as five star reads go, I have two recent ones, but they were books from last year, which doesn’t help us here: Demon Copperhead and The Marriage Portrait. Those were both incredible books.

And Demon Copperhead is definitely on my list! Thanks for sharing the recs. :)

I certainly think there will be summer camp, but I agree that popular vote filling the roster hasn't worked. And, of course, neither did Discord.
