PattyMacDotComma | 1260 comments What a wild pair these disreputable, scruffy Irishmen are, waiting in Algeciras, Spain, for the Night Boat to Tangier, looking for one's daughter, Dilly, who took off for the continent three years ago. Terrific Irish lilt to the sound of them as they search.

Fans of whodunnit murder mysteries are in for a treat with Alan Zacher's Being a P.I.- Again! Fifty-seven-year-old Tom Mayor is, by all accounts, a loser. He still lives with his mother and is a habitual drinker with no job, girlfriend, or any other prospects. At his mother's behest, Tom reluctantly agrees to investigate the murder of his neighbor's great-granddaughter, only to miraculously solve the case, which propels him to instant fame and fortune. He soon begins dating a woman named Cindy Farmer. However, when Cindy's ex-husband, Jeff, is murdered, Tom finds himself becoming the prime suspect. Now, he must find the actual killer before he and his mother become the next victims. When another man dies under suspicious circumstances, Tom knows that time is running out, and he must use all his detective skills to get to the truth.

Full of mystery, action, and intrigue, Being a P.I.- Again! is a captivating tale that sleuth lovers will savor with relish. Alan Zacher sprinkles humor and family drama into this entertaining murder mystery that hasn't a single dull moment. The author keeps a brisk pace in a plot filled with unexpected twists and turns you never see coming. As a reader, you find yourself instantly drawn to Tom Mayor, a likable protagonist you can't help but root for. I loved his relationship with his mother, and their interactions give the narrative a light-hearted tone that enhances the story and makes it even more enjoyable. I also found the ending very satisfying and hope to read more books featuring these characters. Highly recommended to murder mystery readers.

Carolyn | 1630 comments One by One by Freida McFadden One by One by Freida McFadden, is supposedly a thriller about a group of friends who get lost in the woods, but it felt more like an amusing parody to me. Other reviewers and fans of McFadden loved it so possibly there is something wrong with me, not the book! However, it was a quick read and I still enjoyed it!
