Megan (megan_morris) | 170 comments I picked this book up at a used book store a while back because it sounded good and then never got around to it. I'm finally starting it and I'm excited because I've heard some good things about it. I'm hoping that despite it's size it's a quick read. Has anyone else read this, and what did you think? I'll update my thoughts as I go along.

misplacedselchie | 347 comments I have not read this one but when I saw it was by Libba Bray, I literally squeaked. I fell in love with her Gemma Doyle Trilogy years and years ago. I didn't realize she had more books! I will be seeing how you enjoy this, she is a great writer :)

Megan (megan_morris) | 170 comments I read two of the Gemma Doyle series and they were brilliant that's what attracted me to it!

Megan (megan_morris) | 170 comments I have finished this now and wow... this is a long read. I liked the book overall, but while I was reading I felt like it was a little slow at times. I think there's just too many characters in this book with stories going on simultaneously and not crossing that you'd pull away from the story you want to hear about and brought to the story of another character. When it gets good though, it gets good. I'm hoping that when the second book comes out the stories will cross more and become a little bit faster paced and keep the creepy tones this one had.

Has anyone else tried reading this and found the same?

Sheila (sel123) Hi Megan, I chose this book for "a book with some magic." It was my first Libba Bray book and I really liked it. I agree with you that there are a lot of characters but I feel like she is setting up the backstory so we know how all the diviners come together. It would also be cool to find out why they were out of sight in previous years. I also have to admit that I loved the book cover art work and Libbra Bray just sounds awesome. Check out her thank you's at the end, she literally gave her assistants gift baskets and a Ryan Gossling life size cut out:)

Megan (megan_morris) | 170 comments She's definitely setting something up, I'm excited to find out what though! I liked the cover too, a little sad that it looks like the second book will have the re-done cover work on it. The redone versions just don't look as good! I'll have to check out the acknowledgements though I didn't read them as I was gearing up for my next book already haha!

Sheila (sel123) Totally agree with you on the second cover. I saw it and literally whispered Noooooooooo....publishers can suck. Have fun on your challenges.
