James Morcan | 11380 comments Using phrases like "why are you defending THEM?" (i.e. Them = Jews) speak volumes to me.

Believe it or not, I am against the War on Terror as it's all propaganda, and have spoken against Islamophobia etc and believe Muslims need to be left alone and left in peace. So I'm not anti-Muslims or Arabs or anybody.

However, when it comes to Jews, one needs to be honest: Most of the anti-Semitic theories are coming out of the Middle East these days. It's ridiculous how much misinformation and hatred is coming out of the Arab nations toward Jews. Misinformation like the Jews are Masons and other ridiculous theories.

Anyway, I don't want this thread, which is supposed to be about Genesis, to devolve into discussions about baseless theories about Jews and the Middle East conflict etc.

So what's say we get back to the main topic of this thread so others don't lose interest:

Book of Genesis - not an original document?

James Morcan | 11380 comments No problem and thanks.
And Don't worry about it.
Also I didn't realize you were only 16!

I just think to really understand the Jewish people one must study history and comprehend just how many times they have almost been wiped out.
What's crazy to me is Muslims/Persians/Arabs and Jews were mostly friends throughout history and only in recent times has the relationship soured. It's a shame.

B. | 274 comments James, the Nephilim aka The Sons of God always fascinated me. Whenever I get into a debate with friends who are biblical contextualists, I whip that one out and ask them to explain it to me-they always “interpret” it as Adam or Seth’s offspring, but if you read it as it’s written, and as you pointed out, “the sons of God cams to the daughters of men”. Why make the distinction between God and Men?! It also goes on to say that their offspring became giants and hero’s of old....what does that mean?!

In the versions I've read it says "the older Gods"...What the...?!

That's the thing, if you read the Bible anew and forget about what the religious teachers tell us it all means, it's closer to the movie Prometheus than the teachings of organized religions!

I could be totally off the mark here, but Genesis to my eyes reads like it's describing genetic engineering in parts. And I thought that before I even knew there are a lot of researchers who have came to the same conclusion.

Seems to be a lot of advanced science of the Ancients described in the Bible...

Rabbi Ariel Bar Tzadok detailed the long-documented record of encounters with entities not of this Earth, from the secret teachings about Inner Earth and Pre-Adamic civilized humanity, to the many extraterrestrial races, and their relationship to humans. According to Tzadok, there are gaps in the biblical creation story found in Genesis which are filled in by other authoritative Judaic literature. These texts speak about civilizations that existed prior to Adam.

"We believe that here on Earth there existed a highly advanced, a technologically advanced human civilization that existed for millennia, and prior to the human civilization there were other more advanced species here on Earth that... went off planet," Tzadok explained. Visitations from angels, or extraterrestrials depending on your inclination, are really visitations from these pre-Adamic human beings who have been tasked to guide the Adamic race, he continued. When it came time for these entities to go off world, some did but many traveled to the Inner Earth where the continue to reside, Tzadok disclosed.

Ian Miller | 1422 comments Quite a bit of Genesis turns up in the "Epic of Gilgamesh". Not the same words, of course - the creation and early stages concept
